Did you turn off the device, then plug in the usb cable while holding down the U button? You should see the Nokia sign as well as the usb sign.

EDIT: which instructions are you following? This one...

Re: Future of Maemo 5 Fremantle

Ok well I am going to...

Re: Future of Maemo 5 Fremantle

Would setting the new server to be on the DMZ be an option?

I did this with my Xbox at one point when I was having trouble with multi-player - and basically assigning a static IP to the Xbox and...

Re: Future of Maemo 5 Fremantle

I guess it depends on what router I get, it may have some other advanced options other than port forwarding. To be honest I wanted to avoid it completely, as it isnt exactly secure. Are there any...

Re: Future of Maemo 5 Fremantle

Well thats what I was thinking, maybe worth doing this now and get it working well before the repos are shut down (if they ever do get shut down).

Does anyone know what sort of bandwidth is needed...

Re: Future of Maemo 5 Fremantle

Well I have been reading around and the active debian mirror is 610 GB, which basically means the all data we will ever need, harmattan-dev etc included, isn't going to be any more than that! :D even...

Re: Future of Maemo 5 Fremantle

BTW: debian arm/armel is only 49 GB.... not sure what other catagories we would need (if any) but the whole thing is only 610 GB :D

Re: Future of Maemo 5 Fremantle

Are there any plans for a community based/supported file server/repo, or are there any in place already?

Would something like this be useful to the community?

EDIT: Which could be synced with...

Re: Future of Maemo 5 Fremantle

Thanks, should be able to put aside 4-5 TB to back things up, which I guess will easily be enough.

@pali - Haven't got time to look at the scripts today, which repos do they backup?

Re: Future of Maemo 5 Fremantle

Well I don't mind backing up the lot (plus updating as new stuff is added - so if they do shut it down we have a complete backup), just need to know how big it is first, to ensure I have enough...

Re: Future of Maemo 5 Fremantle

Out of interest how large are the repos currently (extras, testing + dev, plus the others, Nokia etc)?

Can't see them closing them down any time soon, but would be a good idea to back everything...

Re: Problems with N900 USB port becoming broken / loose and resulting warranty & repair issues

Got an N900 back today, no marks etc so a good replacement.

One thing to note is Nokia send out replacements without a back cover and battery, so when you send your device back remember to remove...

Re: Problems with N900 USB port becoming broken / loose and resulting warranty & repair issues

So, after the second phone call from the "escaltion" team.... Nokia are delivering me a new N900 (probably a refurb I guess).

The question still remains as to why it took three phone calls, two of...

Re: Problems with N900 USB port becoming broken / loose and resulting warranty & repair issues

I'd maybe do a quick search, as there are a few threads on here about DIY usb repaires.

If I'd known they wouldn't repair it I probably would have done the same :)

Re: Problems with N900 USB port becoming broken / loose and resulting warranty & repair issues

I do see what you mean, I'm just annoyed at the whole process and the fact that it is not really support just sending you a different device (that is not as good as well!) :)

Well getting cash...

Re: Problems with N900 USB port becoming broken / loose and resulting warranty & repair issues

My point is, why not, if you are going to "support" any device, not just mobile phones, with a warranty, you should at least expect to have the spare components to repair defective devices within the...

Re: Problems with N900 USB port becoming broken / loose and resulting warranty & repair issues

Well looks like I'll have to do the same, as the women at the repair centre said she was "escalting" the case.

Too be honest why do you need to make it more clear to another departement, when (on...

After speaking to the Nokia Repair Centre on the phone, they said I could take my N900 to the local...

Re: Problems with N900 USB port becoming broken / loose and resulting warranty & repair issues

To be honest i think all the chargers/batteries will be cheap knock-offs (well the battery link I gave you before was a genuine one - just second hand).

I guess its up to you, I took a chance on...
