Re: No network in Sailfish after running out of credit

Sorry, I did not make it explicit and I realize it may not be obvious to those not familiar with how prepaid cards work.

Voice must be available all the time. One reason is so that you can always...

Re: No network in Sailfish after running out of credit

If I may ask, any connection or just data? How long did you wait before you gave up and forced it manually? Seconds, minutes, days? Did it ask for the SIM PIN?

The way I see it, there are at least...

Re: No network in Sailfish after running out of credit

Not a stupid question at all. No one has fallen from the sky knowing everything.

As nieldk said, the direct answer to your question is yes. But I believe the real answer is it does not have to....

Re: No network in Sailfish after running out of credit

No, sorry, it did not occur to me. But, as Peter says, I would not expect a result much different from restarting network services in Utilities or rebooting.

Re: Sony is shifting direction.

Not quite. They make the hardware and they make it open enough for others to port their OS to it. That does not mean they "use" Sailfish, in the same way that replacing Windows on a Lenovo laptop...

Re: Sony is shifting direction.

How timely. I was just talking with my 10yo daughter on the topic of relative merits and difficulty of making versus selling stuff.

Re: No network in Sailfish after running out of credit

To be clear, I do not blame the provider (Three in my case), although I agree they could have handled it better. Your case was much worse.

I blame Sailfish for not providing any way of...

No mobile data in Sailfish after running out of credit

I recently ran out of credit on my prepaid SIM and it took me a few days to get around topping up. Meanwhile, I lost the mobile data connection. When out of a known WiFi area, the network icon was...

Re: installing Easy Debian v0.9.56-1fremantle1on nokia n900

The version of your wmctrl is different. Note 1.07-5 in Extras versus your 1.07-6.
(OK, I checked the i386 build yesterday by mistake but the armel build is identical, as verified today.)

The key...

Thanks, sulu. I was referring specifically to the three I quoted.
I was under the impression that Galileo was still under development, apparently I was mistaken.

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Wow. You have lockups? Haven't seen one of those for years! :D

Back in the late 1990s, I read an article in some computing magazine where the author argued that command line is more intuitive than a GUI. Their main evidence was a simple experiment. They sat a...

Yes, the product being "Fedora 28 on GPD Pocket". Or even "Linux on GPD Pocket".
With "KDE" or "Gnome" making the same difference as the colour in my Fiesta example.

Some people, especially those...

Re: WhoGo Maps

I had a similar problem. It was the underlying cause of what I reported (https://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=1543092#post1543092) earlier.

The real reason is that my car is a bit slow at...
