Re: KRACK - a patch will be needed to fix wpa2 bug...

However would using wpa_supplicant affect using the device as a phone, to also select 2G/3G?

It seems that wpa_supplicant has been available for n900 but it's not commonly used.

KRACK - a patch will be needed to fix wpa2 bug...

A bug in the wpa2 protocol was found: https://www.krackattacks.com/
It looks like for other Linux (and android), wpa_supplicant can be changed to fix this bug, but it looks like something else does...

Re: [Announce] Pierogi - a universal infrared remote control app

I thought I did see the Nikon DSLR remote control already in Pierogi...at least I've used it before to trigger my D5100...

Re: [Announce] Pierogi - a universal infrared remote control app

I've been using Pierogi ever since I got my N900 about 4 years ago. It's great to have a whole bunch of remotes in my pocket. I was using my HP48G to be my remote control before the N900, alas, I...

Re: Holy cow, we have been dirty for 9 years

Well, it looks like kernel 3.10 and later are the "easy to exploit" so it sounds like we might be semi-safe on Maemo. Still worrysome.

I have yet to try this on my android phone, then again I...

Re: Holy cow, we have been dirty for 9 years

Apparently the "fix" was identified, any ideas when this will be backported to KP?

Not sure about 2.6.28, but backported to my 4.0.5 server, there had been changes so the patch in the commit...

Re: What's your N900 longest uptime?

I've recently been filling up /tmp with Xorg.0.log and having to reboot. Not sure why it's suddenly doing this... And it's not predictable as far as I can tell...

Re: Why can't I play music whilst on a call?

Can't play music while taking photographs either, same problem I guess.

Re: Revert CSSU rotation, lock to stock Nokia option

Is there a way to change the threshold angle before it swaps mode?

Sometimes when lying flat (with the camera bump) my phone switches to portrait with the slightest bump.

Re: Charging with aftermarket Chargers/cables

The N900 does stop trying to charge if it notices it's not gaining ground when charging, apparently. Most of my testing have been with a hacked version of the charge21 script (I hacked out the...

Re: Charging with aftermarket Chargers/cables

I've been frustrated by this for a while and these are the main problems I've ran into:

1. There are a LOT of crappy chargers and cables out there. You will have to hunt for good ones. Don't...

Re: Nokia N900 A-GPS Not Working Anymore

I was trying the supl proxy on my server and pointing my N900 to it. However results were inconclusive, I wasn't sure if my N900 was even happy with my supl server's certificates, making it tough to...

Re: Battery Tests, Homemade 3000mAh XL Battery & Q&A (POST #1) - New Layout

From my tests with my N900 I've seen it chew up 700mA for short durations but fairly easy to make it draw ~500mA for relatively long stretches. I would guess that a good, standard 1.3AH BL5J battery...

Re: ExFAT support

I think at best you have to use the FUSE version, as I highly doubt the Linux kernel devs would touch such patent encumbered filesystem and taint the Linux kernel.

Re: Defrag of Mydocs?

There is some benefit for defragging flash - If you keep all your empty space and constantly changing space defragmented, the number of erases and erase block rewrites would be decreased. This would...

Re: Nokia N900 GPS Not Working Anymore

Re: Nokia N900 GPS Not Working Anymore

Woah. I think I may have AGPS working again, at least it *looks* like it.

Note: This is for T-Mobile USA customers only. I suspect a lot of US users use their N900s on T-Mobile USA anyway...

Re: Nokia N900 GPS Not Working Anymore

I don't know why there's so many people saying AGPS is not needed. Well it is true, it isn't truly needed - GPS indeed will get a lock on its own, but it can take more than 10 minutes... This long...

Re: Nokia N900 GPS Not Working Anymore

For T-mobile usa, lbs.geo.t-mobile.com apparently is also a SUPL server, but it does not work on my n900. Oddly enough this does seem to work on my Nokia 5230 Nuron, as it can get a really fast...

Re: Battery Tests, Homemade 3000mAh XL Battery & Q&A (POST #1) - New Layout

Yeah, the screen itself is really tough but not unscratchable, so I rather the *cheap* screen protectors get scratched. I had my n900 for a few months now and scratched the first screen protector -...

Re: Cheap (chinese) external BL-5J (and other models) battery charger: reverse engineering

Good Nickel Cadmium cells do cool down slightly when charging actually, then warm up when they are full. Because of this, some chargers detect the temperature change to tell when the cells are full....
