This is why you should use "setxkbmap" after you edit the file to see if there are any errors, if there are errors you just revert the changes. Plus you don't need to reboot after each change.

It would be 720p, not 720i if any. (wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/720i)) and as said it would be inefficient. You can just use a high bitrate with 800x480. That would be the maximum.

It's back, but no these are different servers (nokia.com not maemo.org) it was probably just a temporary issue.

Bugslife, what I didn't understand is where did you have a prompt, you're not supposed to see a prompt, maybe you mean the vista UAC and maybe that's causing your problems. Maybe yous should turn it...

You're not supposed to run flasher.exe from the file browser, you're supposed to go to start->all programs->maemo->flasher, then you'll see a cmd window. From there you're supposed to type in...

Where are you stuck? at which step? you should leave the "u" key once you see the usb symbol after connecting it.

Open this link (http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/maemo-dev-env-downloads.php), download maemo_flasher-3.5_2.5.2.2.exe and install it.
