Re: [Council] Maemo Elections - September 2011

Yup. And Maemo is better off as a community for it. Those who are involved now really care about the future of Maemo, many of the other council members, like yourself Qole, were only interested in...

Re: Gary Birkett (aka lcuk) RIP

I am shocked and very saddened. Gary had so much enthusiasm and was a very creative developer.

The bond one develops between people over IRC, forums and email is real. Gary was a friend, even...

Re: apt-get update issues with signature

The way to solve the issue is to get the public key for the repo. This key is used to sign the repository so you know the repo is who it says it is. While apt-get will work without the key, it is...

Re: I'm running for Community Council

Agreed. I don't want Nokia to leave, I want them to contribute. But if they decide to abandon Maemo, I think we need a plan B.

I'm running for Community Council

Hi,

I'd like to be on the community council for Maemo so I can highlight the important ways Maemo and maemo.org can preserve their community and software.

One benefit of Free Software is that...

Re: And where is the people from Nokia who worked on Maemo and Meego?

I love the fact that the Maemo forums are still so active. Hey, don't worry about MeeGo because Maemo isn't even dead yet!

Re: Perl packages for the n900

Hi extendedping,

The Perl version on Maemo, while a little old, is a fully functional and flexible Perl installation. I've written a bit about the Perl environment on Maemo here:...

Re: Directory listing is not allowed

Well, it can sometimes take a while for your application to show up in the Application Manager. So if you are successful in using dput, but unsuccessful in viewing the package in the repos in a web...

Re: sending package to extras-devel when using MADDE

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. I think the problem lies with the autobuilder and the version of software it contains. There has been a change in the libraries for the next version of...

Re: MADDE + QtCreator + Mac OS X

Which libraries are you referring to?

Do you mean that the steps should be;

1. Install XCode
2. Install Qt (I think I had to do this to get Qt Creator to work)
3. Install Qt Creator
4....

Sure. I think the next version of the operating system for the N900, called "Harmattan" is going to be pretty amazing. It might be a MeeGo device, but that is just a name. It will be full featured...

Re: dpkg-gencontrol: error: control file must have at least one binary package part

The binary part of a control file is necessary to define the binary that your package will create.

How did you create you control file? If you did it by hand, you may want to check out some of the...

Re: Renaming "Maemo 6" to MeeGo / Harmattan

Please do not refer to Quim as a Nokia drone. He is flesh and blood and a friend of mine. We may disagree with him but we owe him the same respect he shows us.

Re: Maemo 6 and/or MeeGo on N900: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

Still, all this is speculation keepsie. You have no roadmap, no timeline, and very little concrete information to go on. How will it actually work? Will someone have to take packages like foo.rpm,...
