Anyway to not highlight text in the browser when finger scrolling?

As subject really. I am sure we have all had the same problem, how do I scroll around ine the browser with out high lighting text or pictures 90% of the time? Can you disable text high lighting...

I dont appear to be able to ping anything from xterm..... tad annoying

Anyone any pointers on how I could actually ping something from the command prompt? Seems a bit of a over sight requiring root to ping an IP :p This is my first Nokia Tablet so please treat gently.
