Yeah, that's the unfortunate side of the old OMAP3 chip on N9. Rasperry Pi's cpu is abysmally slow, but it has separate GPU/decode chip that supports 1080p.
And yeah, some videos that worked (badly)...

I'm pretty convinced that Texas Instruments DSP Decoders have problems with B-frames. Without B-frames 854x480 plays back fine with otherwise Main profile settings (cabac being the most demanding)....

I've just been testing my N9's decoding capabilities with x264. Seems like at least 854x480 video with main profile, but without any bframes plays back just fine. I need to do some more testing if...

Were the commands copy-pasted? In that case the swapon command might have came too soon after loading ramzswap. That's the reason you need to use "sleep 1" when enabling ramzswap on a script.

I'm pretty sure most of the slowness of Fennec on N900 is because of the humongous ammounts of memory it needs -> swapping to flash. Hopefully that won't be a problem on N9 with the 1GB of memory...

I can't understand why you couldn't re-enable the drm mode? That would require that something in the hardware itself "breaks" when you change into the open mode?
