i know this is possible on a full pulseaudio installation, where you set the output as a monitor of an input, but im not sure if maemo's stripped down pulseaudio system has that feature

Do you have the indian firmware on the phone? because afaik, the indian firmware disabled skype on the device. Your best bet is to flash it with the global version...

i know this is probably a stupid suggestion, but is ur friend's wifi name the same as yours?
Also, make sure that your phone doesn't have any static IP set.. to me it looks like a gateway...
