Re: idea: Update browser engine on N900

Could we possibly take advantage of Chromium? Maybe it has some mobile interface we could use?

Re: Finding out which mobile network frequencies are available/used?

Thanks!

Can we then somehow predict whether being connected to LTE will use more power than to 3G?

Re: Multitasking on Android

Hmm... I could see a way to achieve real multitasking on Android.

1. Memory Locker to prevent apps from being killed
2. Binding one middle key to kill and app and launch the recent apps.

I...

Re: Trouble calibrating my new N900 battery

I have a maxximus replacement.

I downgraded bme to stock, see what happens here.
What's interesting: vdq turned to 1 before the green led lit!

Re: U-Boot for Nokia RX-51 with BootMenu (updated version 2012.10-rc3-1)

Cross-posting from the DebiaN900 thread, this may be a more appropriate place.

-----

Ok, I used the old version of DebiaN900 to setup Debian on my spare N900. There's one problem. U-Boot...

Re: [Idea] A petition to Nokia to release the closed parts of Maemo

Yes, no Maemo petitions succeeded. But no had proper visibility.
So we can only kindly ask. We have a good argument: the OS is dead.
We don't know unless we try.

But indeed, this lets them know...

Re: Trouble calibrating my new N900 battery

Why will the battery not calibrate with bme on?
Will it be enough to modprobe -r bq27x00_battery (using the bme replacement)

You think that turning the screen on caused vdq=0?

Trouble calibrating my new N900 battery

My old battery was so worn out that I got a 1600 mAh replacement.

I charged my battery on Thursday in the late evening. bnf reported that VDQ = 1.

I was mildly using the phone during the next...

Re: [Idea] A petition to Nokia to release the closed parts of Maemo

First of all, I said about Nokia/MS-owned parts of the system. If they decide to open only the user interface - it's still fine, better than in the current situation.

The Community Council is the...

Re: [Discussion] Rejuvenating Maemo with DebiaN900

Rethought things, all the problems raised are completely on topic. Removed that useless comment from posts #1 and #14.

There's still one problem, even if we port h-d to gtk3. Apps.

As of today...

[Idea] A petition to Nokia to release the closed parts of Maemo

Maemo is no longer supported by Nokia. No new devices are being...

Finding out which mobile network frequencies are available/used?

I read on Quora (https://www.quora.com/What-takes-more-battery-life-between-3G-and-4G) that the power consumption depends on the frequency of the network. This would mean that idle LTE on 800Mhz...

Re: [Discussion] Rejuvenating Maemo with DebiaN900

Well, if it supports Debian, then we could run the same OS configuration on PocketCHIP and on N900.

But it's not only about the interface, gnome-shell is somehow similar to the Maemo interface. We...

Re: [Discussion] Rejuvenating Maemo with DebiaN900

+1. Changed the OP "how much do we add to Debian"

Can you please justify? We have pali's linux-n900 (basically upstream) so the drivers are not (such a big) problem.

Re: [Discussion] Rejuvenating Maemo with DebiaN900

[Discussion] Rejuvenating Maemo with DebiaN900

TL;DR: The idea: use vanilla Debian to get a great mobile experience on N900 (and possibly other devices) and replace Maemo
The question: are you in?
The task for now: discuss the shape

Re: Looking for an Android phone, suggestions welcome

Why would you choose OP3 over FP2? Just better price/spec factor? But OP3 is not so easily repairable, has no replaceable battery.

Why does libhybris need a CM release? I thought it's a generic wrapper for the Android drivers... Can you please elaborate?
