Nokia has done a good job with this leak : they gave us good pictures to make us interested but then they didn't give us much detailed technical info, thus keeping us wondering and generating more...

if it's got enough mass storage and working usb host I wouldn't mind if it's missing a microsd card slot ...

chromium is running on the touch book ( http://www.alwaysinnovating.com/wiki/index.php/Roadmap ) (omap 3 cpu too) so it should be possible to compile it for the n900 too ...

I agree with you that the HD2 might be a better internet tablet from a hardware point of view.
However these are the things I like better in the N900 :
- 32GB flash memory included + microsdhc slot...

I don't know about performance but you could put a micro sdhc card in a CF adapter (exple : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000YZGCIU ) to use it in your camera. (the N900 then has a micro sdhc...
