Re: C++ Opera Adblock possible?
One can always install Privoxy (from Privoxy.org) to ones desktop machine and try it out. Surf with minimal ads for just a few minutes and you'll be hooked. It's not nice to the sites that survive on...

Re: Help finding reasons to Keep N800.
Since you asked; I bought a Fujitsu-Siemens LOOX N560. It also has a battery lifetime issue, but in a small form factor its hard to get decent battery life combined with lots of radios etc.
There...

Re: N800 Media Player
There are also ways to just remove all tags of any kind from files. For Linux (and most unixes) there is the id3 program, for instance. I recently used that to erase all IDV1 tags from my entire...

Re: C++ Opera Adblock possible?
A better bet is to find Privoxy and install that. I'm not sure if or where it is available for the N800 though, but it cleans up a lot of the junk one gets on the web these days, including obnoxious...

Re: The new Moving Adverts are driving me mad
Yeah, I run Privoxy everywhere too. It was one thing when ads were discreet banners that didn't bother you that much, but nowadays the online ads are unbelievably in-your-face. I can't stand browsing...

Re: Help finding reasons to Keep N800.
It's basically a fun toy for most of us. It can be quite useful if one is on the run a lot and can still do ones work with the limited usability of the Maemo device, but it is not a laptop...

Re: ComputerWorld reviews N800
Right, I didn't mean to attack Nokias treatment of the community either, just reacted to the whole "other tablets with Maemo" thing. From what I can see, Maemo is a pretty primitive GUI.

Re: ComputerWorld reviews N800
In my opinion, at this point any other manufacturer would have to be on drugs to build a tablet and put Maemo on it. Maemo is by far the worst part of the entire package. The hardware is very nice,...

I think that review was pretty spot-on. They summarize it very nicely at the end there; "...the N800 is a tough sell. It is one of those devices that is genuinely fun to use but difficult to justify...

Re: ComputerWorld reviews N800
I had a 770 for a while. I really loved it, but not because it was a good web browsing device - I loved it because I could hack the sh-t out of it and install cool third party open source on it. Even...

Re: N800 Screen vs N770 Screen
I for one came from a Fujitsu-Siemens VGA Pocket PC and immediately noticed the screen was massively inferior on the 770. The best PPC screens totally blows it out of the water - there is absolutely...
