There is a mic, it's placed at the bottom of the device near the 3.5mm jack. It's the tiny hole (looks like a manual eject button on a CD-ROM drive).

The device will go into standby when the cover is slid back on but it's nit doing a whole lot to save battery power. If you know you aren't going to use it for a while it would be better to power it...

I'm not too confident about Sandisk RS-MMC's personally. They don't work with some Nokia mobile phones so I'm not sure how they will work with the 770 either.

For a while now Nokia has only had a 64MB and 128MB RS-MMC. Within the next month or so Nokia will be releasing a 256MB, 512MB, and 1GB version of the RS-MMC just in time for the release of the Nokia...

There were still quite a few bugs mid-September but the last two SW versions have really cleaned up the small stuff...it's starting to look real good now.
