1. does it take up resources? Not unless you are sshing in,and then it's neligable. It's not a gui so very light.

2. can you set it to not auto start? yes, this way.

Found a "bug" that might help in figuring out the fb0 problem, might not.

Ok, we now have wlan

ifup during boot. Doesn't work, I had previously copied the firmware in.

ifup --force wlan0... and I got it to connect ... without wep or wpa....

Anyone know how to...

OK... let me copy firmware on my end too. BTW to JackX.. nothing and I mean nothing in the way of an error message, in /var/log/messages or in dmesg. (tailed both..)

Sweet now have xfce. except I'm still not getting wlan0 to get a dhcp address. OR do I have the problem of it only working static? I can see my WAP's with iwlist scan, but it won't get an address....

Well, after the first time through botching it. (as long as the 2g was in it wouldn't boot .. so it goes) I moved data around an installed it on my 4g.... then suddenly, I heard a familiar voice...

1. Clean 2GB card in mmc2 (internal slot on n800, running latest 2008 (admittedly modified like crazy.)

2. SCP'd the install.deb int /home/user.

I've found a "hack" that for me at least is making managing the multiple windows that can occur when running preferences etc. Though it doesn't eliminate the problem with 'z' order it...
