Re: Palm Pre gets SDL! native gaming

Did you do "chmod -rwx sims" or "chmod +rwx sims"? Those are two completely different commands. It should be +.

Re: Palm Pre gets SDL! native gaming

I was able to get Asphalt 5 (1.1.4) to work, played career and quick game modes without crashing. But I think I did something to make it work c/o a post within this thread, something about symlinking...

Re: Preenv webOS games compatibility list

In xterm:

cd [game location]
chmod 777 monopolyclassic/save

Btw, I have version 20.0.40. Before doing this, if I run the game through the app menu icon, it crashes after changing settings...

Re: Preenv webOS games compatibility list

To fix that (for the people who created app menu icons, like myself), chmod 777 the monopolyclassic/save folder. :)

For The Sims 3, chmod 777 the ff:

Re: PR 1.3 has broken Sygic MM10 install

Broken, like, it doesn't launch? I just updated to PR1.3 and MM10 still works (although I can't get a signal since I'm indoors). Have you tried reinstalling it?

Re: [ANNOUNCE] The First N900 Coding Competition! 21st May-21st June. Open to all!

How about social or Internet-related apps? Do they belong in the Other category? I'm developing a "better" tumblr app for Maemo (I said better because I already saw an old python script from a year...

Re: Hibernate during battery change?

It isn't hibernating, but I think some phones can let you remove/change batteries without turning it off, as long as you have the phone adapter/charger connected to it (kinda like what I do with my...

Re: 62 apps at once challenge

Hehe... Yeah, just tried it. I can't get past ~30 browser windows without the task switcher lagging so bad. But also take note that I visited sites that are pretty heavy in Javascript (like Twitter),...

Re: 62 apps at once challenge

How about 100 conversation windows opened? Or 100 browser windows? That's about equal to 100 apps, right? :p (Is one browser window = one instance of the app, or is it just one app no matter how many...

Re: why does installing more applications 'slow' down a phone?

Yep, the transitions were already flaky in the first place, so installing the plugin made it even more flaky. (Flakier? :p) I'm now using the transitions.ini without the blur and edited it a little...

Hopefully, this can shed some light to the issue...

Although it's true that [generally] installing apps don't affect the responsiveness of the device, there are some apps that do affect the...

Re: Overclock the N900?

If your device is from the US, thus having a US firmware, then you must install "mp-fremantle-002-pr" instead. I think there's also 003 (Middle East/North Africa) and 203 (UK).

Re: Overclock the N900?

Oh, thanks for the heads up. :) So probably the appropriate phrase isn't "a better ulv kernel." ;) Maybe "a suitable ulv kernel" -- a set of kernels with different voltage levels, starting with OPP3...

Re: Overclock the N900?

I don't know about the video artifacting, but I did see those visual glitches in Bounce when I was in 1Ghz/stock DSP using titan's kernel. Didn't have them at 900Mhz/500Mhz DSP, but when I came back...

Re: Overclock the N900?

Hmm... You should stick to the previous kernel that worked for you, at least for now, until Lehto/titan/Matan comes up with a better ulv kernel. :)

(I'm waiting for a 250-900 ulv kernel, like...

I've got a feeling you haven't enabled it in the first place :p (SmartReflex is some sort of power-saving feature, but It's disabled by default)

But just to check, try this in your terminal:

Reflash to the stock kernel (or any kernel that worked for you before). Is SmartReflex enabled on your device before flashing to the ulv kernel? I had to disable it just so I can use some kernels...

Re: Overclock the N900?

What do you mean by crashes? The kernel warnings? I've just used Lehto's 800Mhz undervolt and I got four warnings there, but no UBIFS errors. Well, I always get those kernel warnings at any frequency...
