Re: $199 iPhone 2 (3G & GPS and exchange)

Still 480x320 no? That's a deal beaker IMO.

Re: Simple launcher on OS 2008?

That shot of OS2007 makes me long for two things back. 1) Simple Launcher w/ transparent background and 2) List view for Speed Contacts. Not sure how we went backwards... :(

Re: OS2008 Instant Messaging Upgrades

I'm a little worried about that as there are some serious "presense" bugs that I've seen on multiple units running the RTCOM beta. They are in Bugzilla but there hasn't been any comment yet. I...

Re: Canola2 Updates - Beta7, Themes, and YouTube Plug-in

Thanks, I wasn't aware. :o

I have an n810 w/ 4gb minisd card installed that I boot from. I haven't reformated the internal space yet. Would that make a difference?

Thanks!

Re: Canola2 Updates - Beta7, Themes, and YouTube Plug-in

Is Canola using similar mplayer settings to those found in /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf?

For some reason playback of flash video is very different for me inside Canola vs. outside with mplayer. The...

Re: Canola2 Updates - Beta7, Themes, and YouTube Plug-in

The plugin looks very promising... :D

I think my problem is with mPlayer, but FLV performance is pretty erratic on my n810. More often then not the video studders along at very regular intervals...

Re: Hulu performance (or lack of)

Well considering it's lagging on my 10mbit DSL connection and quad core box, I'd say you could be experiencing just about anything on the tablet :)

Maemo Extra version IDs from HELL...

I've been waiting patiently, but WHAT is up with the version id's for the A/V packages in Maemo Extras that are massive?!

I'm taking about things like:

"faad" with a version ID of ...

Re: OS2008 Instant Messaging Upgrades

I'm afraid not, but I'm hopeful every release.

Maybe everyone can comment on issues like this one in bugzilla:

Re: Pidgin or RTCOMM?

Heh... you'd be fine with RTCOMM for chatting with MSN and Yahoo friends. (Unless you're a fan of invisible mode).

Pidgin allows for some more powerful options but it isn't really as...

Re: Pidgin or RTCOMM?

Actually there is an "Invisible" status option in RTCOMM right now, but it doesn't seem to really be an invisble mode. Instead it marks services like ICQ, MSN, etc to a DND status. Are others...

Re: Interfacelift for Nokia ITT

Yep, they're an *excellent* source for desktop wallpaper. I've been scaling down their wallpaper for my Nokia for while now, but this makes it all too easy :D

Re: what font is pretty in xterm?

You're in the right spot (Tools->Settings) in xTerm.

It just sounds like the fonts you've added haven't added to the system font list yet. I forget the command to do it off hand, but a reboot...

Re: Gizmo web cam problem?

Gizmo video quality just isn't very good. Strong lighting will help, but beyond that you are being choked by the implementation including a buggy (imo) bandwidth calculator that never sees more then...

Re: not good use of processing power

I think you have something else going on. I just tried a 5.4mb 3076x2052 pixel jpeg shot I had here.

Loading time from inside...

Gizmo 4.0.0.97 - Feb 13 2008

Not sure why the update isn't showing in their repository (for me?) but there is a new version of Gizmo for OS2008 that was released with the Gizmo 5 launch:

Re: N810 browser TEXT zooming

I'm afraid you're out of luck unless someone knows some sneaky way to keymap something with a script. Ctrl-+ and Ctrl-- do what you describe in Firefox, but on the N810 it just zooms the entire...

Re: OS2008 Instant Messaging Upgrades

Yes...

But at some point they forced them to use the larger image/avatar view rather then list view. I really wish they made that an option like it is in the contacts app. IMO it's far too...

Re: N8x0 Video Conferencing

Video calls also be done over SIP via h.263/h.263+ video. There are a variety of PC clients. I've used Eyebeam and Linphone. At this point it offers the best quality.

Re: Videocamera for 2008OS - Released!

I'm sure higher quality is possible. h.263+ calls I've tried have a higher frame rate and are also encoding the audio to g729 and decoding audio and video from the other caller, all over a network,...

Re: video chat

Well, Gizmo does work, but you need their latest PC software and the video is pretty poor IMO. If you just want to make sure your camera works, look for the thread titled Videocamera that being...
