bash is your friend, it provides a nice env variable called ... "RANDOM":

echo $RANDOM
# or if you want a random number < 200:
echo $(($RANDOM % 200))

have fun!

Re: Personalized Boot Video's

These are very nice videos. I wonder one thing though: does the boot process waits for the entire video to be played before "moving on" with the startup steps or does the video is just played while...

Re: Want wpa_supplicant? cisco LEAP and others.

@SpeedEvil: I've done that same thing too (compile wpa_supplicant) to enable EAP-FAST network (my office network use that). While it works, I never was able to make it play nice with the rest of the...

Re: [Announce] kernel-power v47

I'm in a similar situation. I've been running power46, lv profile, 500-900MHz for a while without trouble. Now, with v47, each time I do something a little IO intensive (FAM catalogs update or...

Re: [Announce] kernel-power v47

ok, ok, suggesting a command that kills a device isn't the nicest thing (although the original version actually doesn't work) but I can't be 100% with you on that one. If someone can't read one post...

I can be added to the "me too" list. Originally, I was thinking that it was a sort of skype spam, but I realized that I've disabl.ed that account. Thanks for pointing that it is related to IM...

Re: BusyBox v1.18.4

Well, I got that error too, but a reflash isn't necessary. You can prefix all your commands by a backslash to avoid using the aliases "\".

Re: Maemo.org repositories down?

It is possible that the mirror you're trying to reach is down (that happens to me frequently these days)

1) open an x-term
2) get root privileges (type "root" on the command prompt)
3) run the...

Re: idea. incoming call screen glitch

In extras-devel, there is a packge calles "slide2answer" that does exactly that.

It is minimalist but works perfectly!

Re: kernel-power patches/updates

I went to the garage and I did a positive review of the "pali" user (search for pali in the "people"). maybe if we are more users doing this, pali will get promoted as a trusted user?

I don't recall if the wifi network daemon is opensource or not? If they are open, could the CSSU team consider adding EAP-fast (and perhaps other type of wifi encryption protocol) into the "official"...

Re: kernel-power patches/updates

Maybe you could ask a "space" in the CSSU git repositories so you would have lots of space and it would be easier for others to contribute as well?

Thanks for looking into this BTW!

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

Sure, I did (as root):

echo "63.84.95.11 repository.maemo.org" >> /etc/hosts

Notice the two ">" (putting just one will clobber the host file...)

Re: High RAM usage when idle

Well, that is true and false at the same time. While Linux caches "files" a lot (so you see a low amount of free memory) it doesn't explain why the browser process uses 18MB of ram while no browser...

Re: [Announce] Internet Radio Widget

Quick question: it seems that since the last CSSU, the widget dies as soon as you start listening to the radio. The last CSSU updated the QT libs to 4.7.2, could that be the issue?
