Re: Sony is shifting direction.

Indeed. I have always found it at least an order of magnitude easier to make something than sell something. Might be different with salesmen though.

Re: Sony is shifting direction.

Move to services and content business might be viable economically as bean counters just love the idea of selling something that does not diminish when sold, being able to sell the same old s**t over...

Re: No network in Sailfish after running out of credit

Ahh, so it was only the data connection that did NOT work, your voice&SMS were resatored when you updated credit to the account? I missed that bit of information in the original question!

Re: No network in Sailfish after running out of credit

It indeed sounds like there is missing use case scenario in the simcard handling.

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Yes, I grant it sjb1 is remarkably stable.

With XperiaX I have had maybe 3 or 4 lockups in total, in something like 7 months if I correctly estimete it; if it was more frequent I'd begin to...

Re: GPD Pocket

This is the reason. By default systemd has 90s timeout when it sends SIGHUP to applications in shutdown, if somebody misbehaves and the timeout runs out, it will send SIGKILL to the raemining...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

There's no need for "an app" as it can be realized via a kernel module. You'll need to use something else and not the Jolla-provided SFOSX kernel though, as that is lacking modules support.

@nieldk already explained it well. In most cases the possibility of reproducible build from sources already deters the will to put in backdoors.

What you don't take into consideration here is that if you get an app as given, your security is already busted. Regardless of what the platform is.

If you install any random binary-only...
