Hmm sorry i must pass, I use Subird on Win with the Funambol plugin this working fine for me. Maybe you have to check in which calendar instance evolution is syncing, they maybe saved in different...

try these settings in the config for the calendar:
type = calendar:text/calendar!
uri = event
sync = two-way
they work for me!

This seem to happen if you mount another filesystem but i didn't found a solution for it so far. Somwhere I saw that this could maybe tracker related, I'll try and reset the trackerdb ... let's see...

What do you mean by status icon? The ones showing up when hitting the clock in the menubar? If yes, head over to extra-testing for a package called tweakr, it enables to to customise the statusbar...
