Re: Samsung Galaxy Note

This is a bit off-topic here, but for note taking, it would be cheaper and far more practical to use something like a smart-pen - see http://digitalsmartpen.com/

These start around £120 I think,...

Re: When will there be anything that can replace my N900

Reminds me of the Psion 5mx. That had the best keyboard EVER. If I ever had the funds and time to design my own device, I'd put a new motherboard and screen into one of those cases. I've seen other...

Just read a post about the Galaxy Nexus being faster than the iPhone 4S, both using browsermark and in real life testing.

I decided to run browsermark on my N900 again, to see if anything had...

Re: [IMPORTANT] N900 Telephony Function Disabled - Potential Fix (At Last!)

So far, the paper-between-battery-and-SIM trick is working for me. Remove paper = error, add paper back = no error.

Re: Bodhi Linux running on N900

Ha, I still have some 1Mb SIMMs at home (never throw anything out lol), I remember when a 4Mb SIMM was about £30. I may still have some 256Kb memory modules somewhere... :D

Re: What are things to check for a 2nd hand Nokia N900?

Things off the top of my head: -
1. It isn't locked with an unknown lock code
2. It isn't SIM locked to any network - try your SIM in it
3. It charges when you plug in the USB charger
4. Switch...

Re: N900 Alternatives?

More cons: Only android 2.3 and only 8Gb of internal storage - although this is expandable to 32Gb.
I would only be interested if it was getting ICS.

One thing I did notice is that the tablet mode/phone mode...

A table of Android phones and how far behind they have quickly become compared to the latest OS version. It compares to Apples devices which seem to do better. I don't think we did too badly with...

Re: N900 as an "alarm" clock, display on all night, charged up at morning

This would be good if you could alter the colours used, I think I would prefer a mid-to-dark grey on black as even at brightness level two I find the display too bright at night.
Happy to test this...

Re: what is the x terminal command that opens an application?

I am just catching up on posts, forgot to mention I emailed "security@maemo.org" as requested and got a bounceback stating the email address was not recognised.

That sounds promising doesn't it...?

This assumes you are in the same folder the executable app is in
