Re: skype getting video @ CITA? check link
It could be anything, though. Some odds, OTTOMH:
N810 variant with WiMAX; such as N820i - and Diablo announce - 80%
Another s/w partnership such as with Microsoft, Real or Skype - 60%

Re: The noBounds Project
Much of this smells like vapourware - or certainly something which wouldn't be useful for many of the use-cases people are imagining (watching your own videos in hotels, complex presentations etc.)

Re: Pptp Vpn?
The problem is the majority of people won't be able to control what VPN solution their employer uses.

Re: What do we know about Diablo (Maemo 4.1) ?
Interesting idea, if entirely unsubstantiated :-)
Like GeneralAntilles, I was under the impression that Chinook would be the codename for maemo 4.x, which meant Diablo would be 5.x and Elephanta...

Re: What do we know about Diablo (Maemo 4.1) ?
It seems to be 4.1.
Given the mess we had with 3.x having about twenty different codenames, the point of the bora/chinook/diablo/elephanta was to clarify the codenames within each major release.

Re: What do we know about Diablo (Maemo 4.1) ?
As tso says, Diablo will be the first version of Maemo with in-place upgrades rather than complete reflashing (or, at least, that's the plan).
It will also be Maemo 5.0, not 4.1:
4.x is...

Re: Maemo Extra version IDs from HELL...
+1 for johnx
The over-reliance on Red Pill Mode by "power" users is a recipe for disaster, and a source of laziness on the part of packagers. Only today I saw that the Jalimo packages provide a...

Re: PC Pro gives the N810 3/6
I beg to differ: my Psion 5mx went for a month or two between recharges of its 2 AA batteries - and that's being used every day. But you're right: consumers nowadays have an expectation on the amount...

Re: Transcode.sh Script
That bitrate is almost certainly too high for the tablet to handle on a codec as complex as h.264.
Personally, it was exactly this faffing which lead me to introduce the preset feature on...

The one advantage Skype has - which was one of their USPs when they first launched - is that its protocol seamlessly traverses NAT routers.

Re: Get Java on your Nokia N800
I don't view Mahjongg as a priority for browsing the web, but my wife still enjoys it on her tablet.
Personally, I'd rather have a JRE (and not for applets)

There's a working implementation, they just can't release.
There're ongoing discussions to resolve the licencing issue for...
