I updated the software using the Nokia NSU tool rather than Maemo Flasher, which for some reason wouldn't work (possibly because I was using a cheap non-Nokia...

Thanks all. The linked page was useful. I ended up getting U-bop PowerSURE Battery from Amazon for £5. It seems to work okay.

However, maybe battery isn't the problem -- now it's more like...

Hi All -- where's a good place to source a new N900 battery in the UK?

The official Nokia pricing seems too expensive.

After almost two years of heavy use my N900 will now only last a few hours...

Thanks everyone above. I have this problem. I've wedged the battery with a piece of paper. Seems to work so far.

I got my N900 second-hand and don't have the proof of purchase for the UK warranty.
