Got it... "java.net.SocketException : Connection reset" i guess this is connection problem. But whatsapp normally designed to deal with this kind of problem. Maybe some sort of reconnecting...

are you using SMS method? if you want to register again, go to xterminal and type
rm /home/user/.java/.userPrefs/org/peterbjornx/whatsapp/storage/prefs.xml
I was successfully getting the code...
