The *.db database is not a *.mem database. They have different format.
If you use Mnemosyne2.* unstable version on your Ubuntu, just put you *.db file to .mnemosyne...

It is not possible to use *.mem database in beta8 version, because *.mem database used in Mnemosyne 1 version. But we work on creating convertor, which can convert *.mem database to current database...

Mnemosyne for Maemo uses Espeak TTS engine and supports a lot of languages. You can listen word pronunciation.
Also you can create cards with audio fragments (files) as question....
