The PPC version of Flasher-3.5 works fine on my black MacBook. It was a simple answer, and yet I could not find it anywhere.
Also, make sure that if you are flashing eMMC too, you omit the -R when...

Sigh ... I am in Boston, and am only getting .8 Mbps/.7 Mbps, according to speedtest.net.

I haven't had that problem... hmmm... seems really loud to me.
I would not go for the N900 though. I love it, but it is a difficult device and I know I am not using it to its fullest capacity...
