Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

Well, they're just working fundamentally different. In short, you would destroy the LED with the very high current needed for such a short pulse (100x shorter flash at same integral intensity means...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

No, they values quoted on the Wikipedia page are for conventional xenon/gas discharge flashes. LED flashes have a much longer duration - try photographing a moving subject, you will see that they're...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

There's a nice instruction on how making a spectrometer out of cardbox and a DVD-R as a diffraction grating:

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

I just did a quick & dirty test (rather unscientific) by taking a direct photograph of the n900's LED with a DSLR and setting white balance manually in rawtherapee (you basically specify a region...

Re: New Raspberry Pi 2 released, Quad core ARM Cortex A7, 1gb RAM

The Pi has, however, some advantages over the Cubies and most other ARM boards:

MUCH better community support (I've got a Cubietruck, the hardware is much more complete/promising - but try to...

According to this (http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/Raspberry-Pi-2-4-Kerne-1-GByte-RAM-und-Windows-10-2534719.html) german article, power consumption is the same at idle (1.5W), slightly higher...

Re: Jolla discount codes

Well, you could look at it from another point of view: Jolla already planned to lower the price after xmas (totally standard behaviour) and wanted to ensure that people buying the phone earlier...

Re: Mobile OS Flowchart

It actually hasn't, apart from the fact that they both are based on an real-time kernel. Symbian has it's roots in Psion's EPOC16 and EPOC32 operating systems, and in fact wasn't a real-time os...

Re: External Soundcard/DAC over USB-OTG on N900

Yes, it should work if your DAC is a standard usb audio device, however not perfectly. There's a long discussion in this thread:http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=83270

tl:dr: possible to use...

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for Jolla

Thank you for your answer, those are very valid points. However I think security measures should be optional so the user can decide what's valued more. Regarding data protecting, I'm using dm-crypt...

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for Jolla

Honestly, if someone steals my phone I do not care much if that person is able to wipe and sell it, it's gone for me anyhow, it would not return just because the bootloader is locked, but would end...

Re: FM Transmitter Other Half

There's also the possibility to use some kind of audio compression , though it makes things both on the phone side and the other half more complicated.

There's been just the teensy 3.1 released,...

Re: The story of libhybris

No, it doesn't. The GPL does not stop anyone to release the code as a tarball instead of systematic commits to the repository, and you are only obliged to give out the code to users of your program....

Re: Building OtherHalf keyboard prototype

Do I understand correctly, this means a second battery Otherhalf needs an additional voltage regulator and would look to the phone like a charger, so battery level is not available (at least not...

(Semi-)Transparent panels to exist, but are expensive and efficiency is very low.

Re: Radio buffer / timeshift

I think the recaller widget has the possibility to record the fm radio output to a file, there is some kind of "monitor-source" in pulse audio that does that.

Re: SolarJolla

I would say yes, 2h in direct summer sunlight should be enough to charge 20% with such a panel (2Wh minus losses). The pitfall is that you have to direct it at least roughly to the sun's direction,...

Re: SolarJolla

The surface area is included in the rating of your panel. An 1Wp-panel gives 1W at 1kW/m2 sun intensity, this can be reached by a bigger panel with low efficiency or a smaller one with higher \eta....

Great project, but be careful with the panel's power rating. It is given for an incident light intensity of 1000W/m2, which is reached on a sunny day in central Europe around noon, with the panel...

Looks like Motorola changed the concept a bit, having separate modules...
