Re: Nokia N9 Teaser - is this meego or harmattan?

How would you keep the phone in your hands while typing if the keyboard is not attached to the phone?

Re: Nokia N9 Teaser - is this meego or harmattan?

I'll keep an open mind towards not having a hardware keyboard. Before I got my N900 I didn't really care if a phone had a keyboard or not, but on the N900 it's just so much easier to get things done...

Re: PR1.2 Features you might have missed

After reading quite a few posts about this I'm pretty sure it didn't, and by the looks of it so were brainstormers:...

Re: N900 keyboard friendly, third thread (PR1.2).

Thought I'd run the phone vanilla for a while after PR1.2 to see if it still slows down the same way after a week or so of usage, but damn I really miss modified-hildon-desktop and...

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 10

Long press on link to open in new tab works for me. Can't slide finger to the right option though, so long press on link -> release finger -> tap the "Open in new tab" option.

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 10

Sounds great, I'll see how it works. We're starting to get quite a collection of browsers.

A lot of the time I use my N900 on a 2G connection and at least on my E71 Opera was still quite fast even...

Re: Here's the Nokia N8-00 ?

Yet his opinion was correct - he stated N900 wasn't nearly as good for mass markets as, say, the Droid/Milestone. I know it's the right device for me, but that just isn't the case for most people.

Re: Disabling the "touch" screen on N900?

That'd be disabled with "echo 0 > /sys/devices/platform/omap2_mcspi.1/spi1.0/disable_ts"?

First I thought this could be handled as a DCEW script, then I thought it a bit further.. After disabling...

Re: Youtube using mobile internet

If you never see 3G or 3.5G despite your location, check if you've accidentally forced the phone into 2G mode:

Go to settings -> Phone, scroll down a bit and there's a setting called "Network...

Re: How to activate mouse mode in web browser?

No idea about the gestures in firefox, but in the default browser you need to slide your finger/stylus in from outside the left side of the screen. So for example put your finger below the speaker...

Re: Phone as GSM Signal Blocker?

Uh, if we assume one already has the N900, surely you can't get a dedicated GSM blocker cheaper than the free software that'd make the N900 do the same thing?

Re: Want to start programming for n900 and QT. Can you help?

While I already had some minor experience from programming using C++ (and BASIC ages ago..), I found using Python great for figuring out Qt. The best thing about it is that you can instantly rerun...

Re: Windows Python and Qt in 30 mins

I'm testing my wings on this coding stuff (never done anything apart from some crude command line C++ programs) and with my luck on the <20 lines I wrote I already managed to use syntax that...

Re: N900 keyboard friendly, second thread.

Yeah it does seem to work, great. Used time.sleep() to wait a while before sending the signal to close newest window (I'm guessing this is the best way to do it?), other than that it's just a couple...

Re: N900 keyboard friendly, second thread.

So, I've another question: Is it possible to have a keyboard shortcut to close the current active window the same way it'd be closed when clicking the 'x' in the task switcher? What happens after...

Re: Mugen Power Batteries

It's not just the mAh printed on the battery that matters. As you can see there's only 300mAh (20%) increase on the N97 battery yet the battery life is increased by a LOT more.

Re: Things most reviews of the n900 missed.

Someone already mentioned this, but on point 2.b clearly the arrows follow the rather widely spread computer world orientation, down is to you (download/down*) and up is from you (upload/up*)

Re: Industrial Design (some future considerations for Nokia)

Some of these are rather obvious - like the first one.. I don't understand how they managed to let that slip through the design process. This makes using the phone while it's sitting on a table very...
