Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

A good idea. Further investigation is needed though.

A different issue has been encountered: GPS positioning data is somehow still provided to applications (OSM Scout and SimScout) even when in...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Wifi is usually always active as is mobile data. Device is expected to do the switcharoo as necessary/possible. Not using SecureFishNet but using the built-in client which works great after having...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Does anyone else have this problem and is there a solution?

OpenVPN is set up to connect automatically, and wifi is set up too. The issue is that when the VPN is connected the mobile data...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

The concern is real what with what seems to be standards followed by the United States of America (with Canada and Mexico in tow plus maybe a few other nations) and The Rest of the World in regards...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

And exactly why would you want to use the USA-localised Android firmware instead of what the community recommends?

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Wifi channels 12, 13, (and 14) don't seem to be picked up by the Xperia X. It is assumed that in Android it doesn't either.

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Hmm, ok, it works on 5 GHz now that the 2.4 Ghz stream has been disabled. It prefers 2.4 GHz for some reason though. One cannot help but wonder if there is a configuration file that sets preferences...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

5 GHz wireless network connection doesn't seem to work. Other devices on teh network can communicate on the 5 GHz frequencies, and yet the Xperia X doesn't seem to want to.

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Possibly /var/lib/ofono/ril is lacking the line
DefaultDataSim=204853412657279

where "204853412657279" is actually wherever you have in /var/lib/ofono/iccidmap as being equal to your IMSI. For...

I performed this surgery on the device via telnet to the Jolla Recovery image:

Re: Sailfish OS on Sony Xperia X (community build)

It is just the fastboot/adb that one installs on Xubuntu. I added the nilarimogard/webupd8 repository and then apt-got (past tense, haha) android-tools-adb and android-tools-fastboot.

Somehow I...

Re: [Announcement] Native call recorder available now

Is there anything that can be done? A work-around perhaps? Sourcing Gstreamer's good plugins from elsewhere? Or do we have to wait for dpurgin to update the software?
