So, I do plan to make the icon only appear when tethering is in use. As for controlling bluetooth-dun, it's conceivable, but a bit tricky as only root can start or stop services. I'll need to think...

Indeed. Seems like a bug in the python loader. I guess that until this gets fixed, my plugin isn't going to be much use :-/

I'm not convinced that an un-separated guide is helpful (I have no problem with a single page but honestly, pages are cheap so a landing page that links to N900 and pre-N900 guides makes the most...

Wow. Windows Handbrake is a disaster - doesn't import correctly and doesn't even open media files reliably.

I see. The Apple trailers are 6 channel AAC - I guess Handbrake can't wrap it's head around those.

i've done a lot of 48->48 dvd conversions without seeing this problem. might be a build specific problem. I compiled my own handbrake for linux (32bit)

So, I didn't realise it until today, but the pc-connectivity manager lets you do exactly what's being asked for.

You can connect using USB, Bluetooth PAN, or ad-hoc wlan and share an internet...

Looks like I underspecified the starting constraints. It probably needs something that could start after bluetoothd. I'll have to investigate and find out what it is.

So, when you disable bluetooth in the UI, the hardware is turned off but all the software keeps running, so that doesn't cause any issues.
