Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

Thanks for all the feedback sulu, it's much appreciated! :)

Now for the individual issues:

bad route/route with bad segments
As rinigius already mentioned, waypoints are a reasonably good...

Re: Why do we have iphb in the whole Maemo family

Yep, it's the same thing as on Android (wakelocks) - when the screen of the device is turned off, the device will basically do a suspend to RAM (you can check fro that in the journal), freezing all...

Re: [Live] Youyota 2-in-1 Tablet

I as another backer have no issue with the delay as long as the device actually arrives eventually, so I definitely prefer a device (even if delayed) to a refund.

BTW, I already have the original...

Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

Not really - Harmattan is in an unfortunate technological middle ground between Freemantle and Sailfish OS. Is no longer has GTK2 and python-location which the (still supported) GTK2 GUI uses and...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

I don't think this is correct. IIRC (based on Jollas press releases) it's a different & presumably substantial not yet named third party in China.

Re: OpenRepos.net - Community Repository System

Alternatively/initially this could be obtained from RPM metadata - there is a license and URL field in the spec file specififcation (http://ftp.rpm.org/max-rpm/s1-rpm-build-creating-spec-file.html)...

Re: How do I install Jolla Store apps from the terminal?

Actually, modRana is a bit of a special case in this regard - it's available in all three (Jolla Store/Harbour, OpenRepos & Mer OBS) repositories. And the OpenRepos and Jolla Store package are...

Re: [Announce] Native offline maps: OSM Scout Server

I've sent them an email, but it's indeed unlikely the will fix it during the weekend.

In any case, it's pretty strange the outages happen so often and especially before/during the weekend. One...

Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

Yeah, seems to be that way! I guess I'll just remove them (worst case we still can restore them from the Git history) and that should be it.

Those are default folder names where tracklogs are...

Re: [Announce] Native offline maps: OSM Scout Server

Is the Qt 5 source code & packaging Jolla uses available somewhere in the open (eq. on git.merproject.org (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=1539322#post1539322), etc.) ?

That could possibly...

Re: [Announce] Native offline maps: OSM Scout Server

I'm using a Canvas (http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qml-qtquick-canvas.html) element on top of the map to draw routes, tracklogs & the track recording trace:

- recording trace paint method...

Re: [Announce] Native offline maps: OSM Scout Server

Mapbox GL integration is currently my top priority in modRana, together with better voice output.

It will likely not be easy to support everything modRana does (routing/navigation/POI/on map...

Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

Tranlations!
It is now possible to translate more or less everything visible in modRana and the strings can be translated via Transifex:

I think it's pretty important to be able to save any points of interest you encounter on your travels and to look them up later.

Re: [Announce] modRana: a flexible GPS navigation system

modRana 0.51.1 has been released!

So, we have finally a new modRana release - this time with quite some highlights! :)

The OpenRepos package has already been updated and the Jolla Store/Harbour...

Re: Sailfish X (official build) - loudspeaker volume

I think it's likely this issue:

It was raised on a recent community meeting and it seems to be known by Jolla &...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

I think the recovery image files might still be updated in the future, so that people don't have to install a bazillion of updates if they ever do a factory reset.

This is a huge benefit of this...

- create all platform specific boot partitions
- home & root need...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

If only Android itself used LVM - it could just have one big volume group with whatever crazy logical volumes in it and we would not have these issues. LV order doesn't really matter, so you can...

That's a good point - they don't need to write that all themselves but the maintenance burden is certainly significant.

That's partially the reason of using ancient non-GPLv3 software that's often...
