Alcohol shouldn't hurt your screen at all, but I wouldn't let it get in the phone-speaker on the front of the screen.

For glasses I like to use ammonia based glass cleaner and then just wipe it...

As a linux user who has had Ubuntu on his home machine since 7.04 Hardy Heron, I know my way around the terminal window and I prefer it to a gui for most tasks.
The terminal window is much faster...
