Re: How to gain root privileges on N9?

Thanks. I don't yet have a good understanding of Aegis, but it appears to me that any privileges users have can be taken away at any time, by Nokia.

Is that a reasonably accurate summary of the...

Re: How to gain root privileges on N9?

Can anyone elaborate on the limitations of root access on the N9? What privileges are missing?

Re: N9 16/64GB: worldwide availability & pricing

You are correct. Unfortunately, regardless of how we see it, those in charge at Nokia do not consider the N9 to be their flagship. It's more of a ghost ship.

Re: Who's still around and interested in N800/N810?

This probably isn't worth much, but I've had good results with a Lenmar replacement battery in my N810. It doesn't have the capacity of the "equivalent" Nokia battery (BP-4L), if the Nokia battery is...

Re: The End is Coming: What do we do next?

My reply to this question is as late as it is off-topic to the real subject of this thread. But there is an answer to Qole's question that needs to be noted here, even though further discussion, if...

Re: Script to kill runaway hildon-home processes

This is very much a case of treating the symptoms rather than trying to cure the underlying problem. But I'm happy with it, so far. Battery life has improved. (Note: all the disclaimers from the...

Re: The End is Coming: What do we do next?

I've had some experience with an Android tablet and phone, and in both cases my response to the capacitive screen is, "people actually want this?"

But I've found that the Android VNC client offers...

Script to kill runaway hildon-home processes

First of all, I do not actually recommend that anyone use this. It hasn't made my phone blow up yet, but I have had to pull the battery on one occasion. For all I know, it might harm yours.

Looks like great hardware. l have a lot of confidence in AT&T's ability and inclination to neutralize its virtues.

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 11

As a longtime Opera user on the desktop (since at least 1997), I am very happy with Opera Mobile 11 for Maemo.

The previous version did not quite work for, but I think this one will become my...

Re: Nokia n900 for $199 from NokiaUSA

Please let us know how that works out. I'm tempted, but I've already bought one N900 on the basis of Nokia's promise of a rebate, and never received that rebate. So I'm not exactly eager to get...

Re: [Announce] Opera Mobile 10

I don't suppose there's any chance the new build improves on the previous version's lack of keyboard navigation? I really miss spatial navigation. Even more than that, I miss being able to use home,...

Re: If you dropped your n900 down the toilet - would you buy one again?

You bet. I am very definitely not a developer, but there is no other phone I would rather have.

Re: HDR Pictures with the N900?

Could the interface (specifically, the buttons on the left and right sides of the frame) be a little brighter? The app becomes very difficult to use in bright sunlight.

Re: HDR Pictures with the N900?

Camera is in automatic mode. Flash is "always off". White balance: automatic. Resolution: high.

This is the critical factor, though: Exposure was set to -0.5. When I set exposure to 0, ISO 400...

Re: HDR Pictures with the N900?

Looking back, I see that I have not taken any ISO 400 photos since installing PR 1.2. So the problems I'm having with ISO 400 could be related to PR 1.2 while having nothing to do with blessn900.

Re: HDR Pictures with the N900?

I find that after installing blessn900, the built-in camera app no longer works at ISO 400. Other settings seem to be okay, but at ISO 400 I see a black screen and photos taken at that sensitivity...
