Re: Sailfish OS on Sony Xperia X (community build)

I just gave that one as an example of many open source alternatives, I didn't suggest of using it.

Speaking of Ubuntu touch though, they use aethercast for casting stuff from phone to TV's etc....

Re: Sailfish OS on Sony Xperia X (community build)

My guess is that there is a dictionary of words, ordered lexicographically and by the frequency of use (based on some researched values at first), which will be updated each time the user types that...

4.4 kernel isn't fully functional yet, both cameras don't work and some other stuff see here for more details (https://developer.sonymobile.com/open-devices/current-platform-functionality/)

Also...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

I can't find the quote now but sledges didn't rule out updating the Xperia X kernel to 4.4 in the future after I asked about it in one of the community meetings.

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Yes currently 3.4 kernel's don't work, but with enough patches it should work. At the moment, we're focussing on sorting the more fundamental parts of anbox in order to get it to work in Sailfish...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

In theory you could install anbox on the Jolla 1, but not sure if 1GB RAM would be enough.

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

What are you talking about, there is a linux version, and even for the *spits* Mac OS. Better yet, the linux version doesn't need any special drivers, other than the ones from the android sdk tools....

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Checking it in the settings, doesn't unlock it on reboot... You need to go to the website, put in your IMEI number, and then get given the unlock code, and use that to unlock it when the phone is in...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

And no, if you get someone else's DRM keys it still won't work, it's device specific.

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

I look at the spec of the device, and to see if it comes with an unlockable bootloader, so I can port Sailfish to it. I don't care about any software feature junk, just what the physical device...

XZ1 rumours (https://twitter.com/rquandt/status/902666232129875971) If true, looks like I'll take my money elsewhere.

Re: The new QWERTY device project

Yeah, that's not how it works. yes running the 4K screen on the XZ Premium at 1080p does save (a noticeable amount of) battery, but any lower and you're looking at a few percent better, at best,...

Re: The new QWERTY device project

Re: The new QWERTY device project

moving the screen down via software is not a solution, that just shows how stupid the screen size and aspect ratio is.
