Post [HowTo-Hack] Partial root in eMMC

What you get:
- Lots of space to install apps; by restoring from a hacked and modified N900 rootfs and optfs Backupmenu image.
- After having this applied, the N900 should still be usable in all...

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Saw some previous posts claiming that backupmenu completely doesn't work & bricks the device.
I suspect some are not aware that there is another distant & somewhat related problem:
- Start off with...

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Thanks for the response! I find above portion of the response most interesting. Is libstdc++ & libgcc1 from CSSU Thumb mandatory?

Here's a scenario - Lets assume I have:
- *CSSU Stable*.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Question: With KernelPower52 alone, one would still be able to run CSSU Thumb/Thumb2 apps right?
From what I gather, CSSU Thumb/Thumb2 simply provides a huge set of libraries compiled for...

Re: mailcmd - send email from commandline

I didn't try it with mailcmd, but I'm sure you could work something out based on this:
seq 1 10 | vim -
.. inside vim, pres Esc & type following:
:w !sed -e 's/^/MailLine/'

In actual, you'd...

Re: I Want to develop apps but have no Developing/C++ skills

highly recommended to start by using Python and PyQT combo first. much easier to keep the motivation and get something done first. go into C/C++ when you feel you have all the time in the world and...

Re: [Solved] /dev/mmcblk* missing when in /sbin/preinit?

Thanks reinob! Yes I think you're right about udev creating the devices.

I had no idea there was such a thing called udev & udevd & did a quick read on them.

Oh, one thing to note. One might want to identify the correct storage to do further stuff from this...
(ie: find the eMMC or the storage card).

As noted in other threads (rootfs on emmc), N900...

Re: /dev/mmcblk* missing when in /sbin/preinit?

I'm sorry I forgot to respond to this!
Came across this thread again when I was debugging some stuff.

Anyway, I've found the solution.

Modules must be loaded using insmod or similar in preinit...

Re: n900 crunchy slider after fall

Re: How much space should be free in rootFS?

Basic idea: /lib, /usr/bin, /usr/lib, /usr/share are all from eMMC. ie: I do a "mount -o bind /home/mnt/.emmcfs0/lib /lib" etc in /sbin/preinit. There's a /lib-nand that still resides in NAND, &...

Re: How much space should be free in rootFS?

oh jst a note...
it would be most strategic to keep things that often run in NAND/rootfs.

note: it's a lot of work...

Re: [Announce] Yappari - A WhatsApp client for the N900 ONLY - v0.0.22

Scorpius, a thought below for your consideration.
You don't have to do it of course.

Perhaps you could split Yappari to an engine binary & a UI lib*.so.
A set of API interfaces would be required...

Re: [Announce] Maemo5 running 32GB eMMC root FS (scripts)

I found that that isn't enough. One still needs to do dpkg -i kernel-power_*deb & dpkg -i kernel-power-module*deb too. I tried only running post install scripts but it was somehow not enough.
