Sorry if this is a stupid question, but does anyone know where I can get a stock kernel from so that I can place it in /boot/multiboot/?

You have to rebuild the database and then edit your repo files to get yum working.
Make the repos look like this:
fedora.repo
[fedora]
name=Fedora $releasever - $basearch...

I did this. Reflash the phone with pr1.2 to start anew.
Use maemo flasher to flash the framebuffer kernel. don't install any modules, it works fine without.
in other word, use the framebuffer...

Edit your fedora.repo to look like this
You may as well delete the file and remake it it and just copy this into it.
[fedora]
name=Fedora $releasever - $basearch...

I had issues with yum, I also had to change my repos.
you need to edit your fedora.repo and fedora-updates.repo to use different repositories. the standard ones were dead for me.

Follow Jebba's guide up to where you extrat the rootfs. the chroot into it. to get yum working, you need to rebuild the rpm database.
Do this by:
cd /var/lib
rm __db*
rpm --rebuilddb
let...
