Re: What OS are you using?

I have a pair of 770's which are running OS2006. It does what I want and it stable ... no reason to change. If I got a third table, tho, I'd use it as a guinea pig. :)

Re: Screen is a bit wacky

One of my 770's has a similar issue. My wife used to use it heavily for texting via pidgin, though, so it might be a symptom of overuse in my case. It also sometimes doesn't register a stylus press...

Re: t3 worst gadget 23 of 25

I've owned three 770s. One got a WSOD right away and was replaced by Nokia. The other has worked just fine for years, as has the replacement 770.

If they're been used for a while, chances are...

Re: Can't get Nokia 770 to update software

There's this web site:

Repositories for Nokia Internet Tablets (http://www.gronmayer.com/it/index.php?lang=en&system=maemo2)

This also looks like an interesting/promising procedure, though...

Re: Where can I find a drop-in Maemo Mapper 2.4.x?

Did the above, and it works fine now. Duh. It's been so long since I've used apt-get that I didn't even think to play with it.

In any case, I now have 2.4.1 installed and working on the new...

Re: Where can I find a drop-in Maemo Mapper 2.4.x?

Yup, that's where I obtained the copy of 2.4.1 that didn't install before. But thanks for providing a pointer for future readers. :)

Where can I find a drop-in Maemo Mapper 2.4.x?

I have a Nokia 770 running OS2006, and the first is running a pile of applications and utilities including Maemo Mapper 2.4.1 along with my AMOD ABG-108 bluetooth GPS.

It all works just great. ...

Re: Tablet owners: What is your primary operating system?

Gads. :-)

At work, my primary desktop OS is Windows XP, but I spent as much time on one or more servers as I do on the desktop, and those are running either Solaris or OS 2200.

At home, it's...

Re: POI in Maemo Mapper. Dazed and Confused

I just started using that site with Maemo Mapper on my 770, and it's really slick. :)

Re: POLL: Off-Topic: How Many Gadgets Do You Carry?

I tend to bring:

* My Aiptek digital movie camera (cheap, but good enough in daylight).
* My cell phone (Samsung...

Re: The "Ecosystem": Why I can’t recommend an N8x0 or N900 to my friend

The problem with many companies that develop software isn't a lack of ideas or a lack of good engineers ... often its misquided managers or a very poor development process that causes the issues. ...

Re: Forum reorg pointing to talk.maemo.org

The Garnet VM poses a number of specific issues (e.g., how to make backups) that a normal Palm OS forum isn't really used to seeing, and that are really quite specific to the implementation we have...

That's cool. I guess it isn't obvious to someone like me (who only pops in here infrequently due to time constraints) unless they have some sort of indication in their messages. :)

Re: Preferred method of text entry poll

I use Midnight Commander in OSSO Xterm on my 770, but I usually use the stylus to pull down menus, navigate, etc.

It's a lot easier with a bluetooth keyboard, tho.

Re: Preferred method of text entry poll

I can't pick just one. I prefer using the stylus/virtual keyboard on my 770 for most general stuff, but I vastly prefer using my little bluetooth keyboard when doing stuff in an Xterm or via VNC.
