You need to charge your battery by any other method or you can use nokia 5800 battery.

Take extracted zImage of the power47 kernel.
Convert zImage to uImage using mkimage.
Take the available for download uboot image that works on your hardware revision.
Use dd to write the kernel...

I was also having the same problem that your are have now,But even i put my n900 for charging and then i connect my n900 to usb and i was able to flash.So, the point is double or triple check it...

Then, remove u-boot
Open x-terminal type:
root
apt-get install kernel-power-flasher.
