Re: Ubuntu-N8x0 2.2 - released

It really turned out that the Hang at boot problem is caused by not installing desktop environment. This should be mentioned, as it is pretty confusing for newby users. Also the touchscreen fix.

I have the same problem with Ubuntu filling the progress bar to the very end and stopping there. I have installed only env-base and I am using the Mer bootloader.

Re: N800 vs. Mylo 1&2 vs. Itouch vs. Archos 605?

iPod Touch:
1. Noticably louder volume with headphones, but does not have speakers. I have no observations on iPhone's speakers.
2. Crashing is mostly a problem of the user applications, not...

Re: I got an iPod Touch (review compared to an N810)

Safari is a great browser, but I agree about the screen resolution. You really need to zoom in/out more than on the N800, but the zoom itself is way easier and smooth. When you browse a bigger web...

Re: I got an iPod Touch (review compared to an N810)

Amarok synchronises really well. The problem is that there is no alternative for restore-ing/upgrading, especially for Linux and that, as I have stated at the moment I don't have WiFi at home (which...

What portable computing devices have you had?

Simple question. What have you used until now. What do you think of the devices?

My list is rather long with lots of different devices. So:

Re: What do you think the absolute limits are for the N800/810's GPU prosesing power?

The CPU processing powers are roughly at the level of CPUs of that time, and all the graphics are done entirely in software with the CPU.
Software rendering is by definition SLOW (and ugly).

Re: Installing Programs on memory card?

ext2 is totally not suitable for flash based memory. Why do you think jffs2 is used for the internal flash?
You should try reiserfs, as it is way more friendly for the flash memory.

Re: Could Xorg.conf extra config

The "wacom" stuff is about Wacom type touchscreens. First of all they are way too different: active vs passive.
770/N800/N810 and all the PocketPCs/Palms and other handhelds use active touchscreen....
