As someone who sold their Jolla two years ago in favour of a 6310i (whilst picking up a GS4 Mini for non-phone duties), I can only envision a completion of this project if they abandon N900 hardware....

With regards to IRC, generally speaking, a lot of the talk has been development related, not necessarily relevant to the wider audience. As a result, I see no issue with it used for that purpose....
