Re: #JollaLoveDay - 20th May - device announcement

I kind of disagreee here... Whats a camel; a horse designed by committee.
You cannot get a clear design vision out of polling randoim dudes off the net, sorry.

Re: #JollaLoveDay - 20th May - device announcement

What I see in Jolla smartphone and Sailfish OS is a smartphone & mobile OS with some features from desktop PC with Linux, because :
1) "The Other Half" promises some hardware (not just color)...

Re: #JollaLoveDay - 20th May - device announcement

Well, I'm impressed with the device. I've gotta hand it to the folks at Jolla; they've taken the limited hardware that was available to them, and created something rather fresh out of it.

For...

Re: #JollaLoveDay - 20th May - device announcement

Here's another question you might want to ask: "Do I want to see any more Maemo/Meego/Sailfish heritage phones in the future?" If you do value that type of phone, you might want to consider...

Re: #JollaLoveDay - 20th May - device announcement

I think people really forgetting what Jolla is doing here. Their final goal is NOT TO BE A PHONE MANUFACTURER. It is about the OS, right? And this is their first device ever. What is the most...

Re: Google drops XMPP support in its new chat/Talk/Hangouts

Of course not. Actually, I would prefer to outsource it too, just like I did with e-mail. But I do know that if this e-mail provider messes things up, I can switch to another easily or indeed host it...

Re: Google drops XMPP support in its new chat/Talk/Hangouts

You mean like like jabber.org (https://register.jabber.org/) or some of other from the dozens of public jabber/xmpp servers (http://xmpp.net/) ? :)

Re: Google drops XMPP support in its new chat/Talk/Hangouts

Why to start up your jabber server? There are a *lot* of free jabber servers which are connected to world jabber network. And registration is totally easy - directly in IM client.

Re: Google drops XMPP support in its new chat/Talk/Hangouts

Idiocracy was right, of course, but that doesn't mean we should give in. I've thought about this in the past a bit and I have largely the same opinion as qwazix.

People in general just don't care...

Re: #JollaLoveDay - 20th May - device announcement

I don't see how a new small startup company like Jolla should keep alive abondoned devices from a very big company. This legacy support would break them their neck and they would be as slow as Nokia...

Re: Google drops XMPP support in its new chat/Talk/Hangouts

That is quite a lame attempt at criticising Jabber. Jabber fully supports phone calls, video calls, group conference, sending files and more features than most propietary networks can even dream of....

Exclamation Google drops XMPP support in its new chat/Talk/Hangouts

The scary rumor has come true.

According to The Verge, citing Google's director of real-time communications Nikhyl Singhal, Google has dropped XMPP altogether.

This is a very sad news and...

Re: Jolla Sailfish Is stunning! Now on video!

Re: Porting an ios app titled a3 thinker to n900

Sure it is, and the reason for that is that people here are used to FOSS attitude, this is a FOSS platform after all.

Everyone COULD try to aspire to those goals, yes. I do some of that stuff...
