Re: Weird settings problem

Doh! I was out of space on the main flash partition. Problem solved (but I guess some kind of meaningful error message would have been nice).

Weird settings problem

My n800 is clearly possessed. The background shows my background image. None of my desktop applets are remembered. A few standard statusbar applets are shown instead of mine. The status bar control...

Re: nPrint - simple printing solution for N8X0'rs!

Cool. These days, printers can probably print a few graphics formats because they can print directly off various memory cards. But don't expect to hand it something like a pdf, doc, html, etc.

Re: nPrint - simple printing solution for N8X0'rs!

That would be cool. Here's a small modification of your program that adds a few options that work well with my specific printer. If it were just for me, I'd probably remove the host, user, save, and...

Re: nPrint - simple printing solution for N8X0'rs!

Following up again on my follow up (sad, I know), here's a Windows batch file that just uses the file association of a file to look up the relevant print command in the registry. So for all file...

Re: nPrint - simple printing solution for N8X0'rs!

To follow up on my own thought, here, if the Windows box runs an ssh server, we could transfer a file and then launch an individual application that knows how to print the file in the background. For...

Re: nPrint - simple printing solution for N8X0'rs!

This thread so far is about a simple way to print if you have a seperate print server machine that uses the lpr command (e.g. a linux box running cups). We're just sending the pdf or other file to...

Re: nPrint - simple printing solution for N8X0'rs!

I tried it this morning. It works great. I edited the lpr command in the script to select my print queue by name (because I don't have the default set properly there yet) and did my ssh password at...

Re: nPrint - simple printing solution for N8X0'rs!

Bongo -

Wow. This is really great. I didn't expect to go to sleep and wake up to 100 lines of free python code! I haven't tried it yet, but will later today (have to take my little one to...

Re: nPrint - simple printing solution for N8X0'rs!

I really like this lightweight approach, since I'm running standard maemo os2008 (not debian, not booting off mmc). I set up cups on my little nslu2 NAS (backup server mainly, "unslung").

Is there...

Re: Sharing my desktop backgrounds :)

I assume everyone has already seen the backgrounds at obukhoff (http://obukhoff.su/photos) (about 2000 images at 800x480 resolution).

Re: WiFi dead after update

In principle, that's what the wiki is for -- indexing and possibly formalizing the useful stuff.

Re: Connection status bar app malfunction

Thankfully, the problem was fixed by today's OS update! But I'm not sure what I would have done otherwise. I assume that something important was reset or overwritten rather than the update containing...

Connection status bar app malfunction

The "disconnect" and "change connection" menu items in this status bar app seem to be recently broken on my tablet (diablo N800). Selecting either one makes the menu disappear, but otherwise they...

Turns out I can return/exchange to Amazon because they are have a special extended return for holiday purchases.

Any chance it is not a hardware problem? The most exotic thing I've done is flash...

Hardware failure

 Last night my 2-month-old N800 did a fade to black, leaving a single horizontal line of color (which seems to contain some actual data intended for display). Ultimately had to take the battery...
