Re: My N900 Experience

You know how they say, "Better safe than sorry." Well, it's the biggest truth.

My USB port has suffered a terrible fate. Surprisingly quick, too, considering how I've been doing nothing but taking...

Re: 7, 8 Inch Windows Tablets

A mobile device with a keyboard would mean that shortcuts would work wonders with a keyboard-driven interface. Not to mention that the stylus is pretty nifty.

I suppose the only deal-breaker for...

Re: SailfishOS Update11 discussions

You know, there's something they should've included in the Monday update. It's a simple fix that would work wonders for Jolla. A bugfix, if you will. I'm not sure why they didn't take note of it yet,...

Re: SailfishOS Update10 discussions

True. But I can't think of anything not covered in this upcoming update. Then again, I'm from the outside-looking-in.

Re: SailfishOS Update10 discussions

I'll admit; I kind of skimmed the top of that linked page.

That's massive. There's even some UI changes. That's pretty exciting!

Is there anything they missed? As far as I can tell, all bases...

Re: SailfishOS Update10 discussions

That seems...oddly basic. I suppose announcing bugfixes wouldn't be very exciting.

Is there anything that desparately needs updating? Perhaps UI changes or the web browser or camera app?

Re: SailfishOS Update10 discussions

Lol and there it is. You know what they say. If you want something done, do it yourself.

So, what does the latest update entail outside of updating to the latest Qt version? Bugfixes? Driver...

Re: SailfishOS Update10 discussions

I get that. However, the title contains "Discussion." I was kind of expecting an actual discussion to take place.

Re: SailfishOS Update10 discussions

What is this thread actually supposed to be? To me, it looks like the same kind of "fan vs. critics" b_tch-fest that console kiddies engage in.

You know, the very furthest thing from a discussion.

Re: My N900 Experience

@reinob: Thank you for the tips. Could you go into detail on your Easy Debian setup (at /home)? I tried to do something simiar, but I have no idea what I'm doing.

Where are the parameters stored?...

Re: My N900 Experience

Yes. The Email widget checks for email every 5min, bluezwitch+recaller will be active when needed, dataplan monitor+IP widget are always active, and event/task widget will be active when I have tasks...

Re: My N900 Experience

I generally don't have that issue. The UI, at least for me, is consistant in speed throughout its uptime. I have multiple widgets active (current location, bluezwitch, recaller, WiFiswitcher,...

Re: My N900 Experience

Yes, that's exactly what I was referring to, reinob. Thank you. Also, pichlo, that's an interesting way of looking at it. I never thought of the lockscreen as being obtrusive (although now that makes...

Re: What have former N900 owners moved to?

Not trying to start anything (don't even own one), just curious about this statement. How is it badly implemented, and how can it be different?

I did that. I tried AT&T's access points for both Android and Quick Messaging. No dice.

Wow! Your instructions for the lockscreen and email notifications worked like a charm! Thanks!

I don't intend on sending MMS, but recieving them is a different story. I can't for some reason. I'm...

Re: My N900 Experience

Ran into a few "quirks" on my N900. I'll call them that, for the term "shortcomings" is a little bit harsh, on the grounds that others obviously had/are having success with these and damning the N900...

Re: My N900 Experience

Tried cuteTube-QML. It's not playing the videos. Instead, it's showing the related videos. I tried the other version of cuteTube and that works just fine, but seems just a tad slower than the former...

Re: Thinking of getting back to N900. Few questions.

For email, you can use the built-in client or Claws. For podcasts, you can use gPodder. I'm pretty sure there's a password manager on the N900, but I have no idea what it's called. Same for ebook...

Re: My N900 Experience

No, I had the same trouble with HAM as well. The problem was no more after updating.

The only reason I went into HAM to update was because of the apparent problems with FAM updating (although I've...

Re: My N900 Experience

Some strange behavior's afoot.

I tried installing Lanterne, but FAM's complaining about "unmet dependencies." I checked what they could possibly be, and it's claiming that...

Re: My N900 Experience

I made an important discovery: the N900 charger sucks!

I tried an HTC charger (with a different uUSB cable w/ smaller pins) and I managed to boot the N900 within 2min of leaving it to charge. I'm...
