We tested this recently on #maemo-ssu and it seems that "Normal(TLS)" is the equivalent of STARTTLS, meaning forcing a TLS connection on port 143 rather that talking to an imap4s server on port 993...

I removed everything related to meego, meecolay, qt-components etc... reinstall everything by the book and now everything is back to normal. Sorry for the noise

I don't think so: I've read this thread all over since the big changes in upstart package, and none of the advices reported there made any differences. My debug sessions seem to show that the issue...
