Re: What is "piracy" and is it ever justified

The idea behind copyright is so that it benefits the society by spurring innovation. That was the initial idea behind patents and such.

It's not about making profits! Never was! The problem until...

Re: Angry Birds Levelpack back in OVI-Store (Edit: and now not, again...)

Re: Pushing the maemo.org karma concept to meego.com?

But those raw stats and rankings aren't meaningful.

You for example have 170 Posts but have been Thanked 351 times for them.
I have 393 Posts and have been Thanked 214 times for them.
Obviously...

Re: Pushing the maemo.org karma concept to meego.com?

Part of the thanks system is it to be visible and specific. So that the user can directly see which action (post/comment/edit) was useful and for how many people. A thank button in the profile makes...

Re: Pushing the maemo.org karma concept to meego.com?

Ultimately, this whole debate is discussed in Normative ethics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normative_ethics).
Let me structure it for you:

1. Virtue ethics - here the intent is more important...

Re: Pushing the maemo.org karma concept to meego.com?

Just put a Thanks! button on all the activities and sum it up in the end. The absolute stats and raw numbers can stay for those that care for those things.

Like many said you can't really quantify...

Re: MeeGo forum? (maemo.org round)

Question is, will they be integrated in "our" community like the new n900 owners have been here or is the MeeGo community going be something different and function in other ways than Maemo's or...

But are we going to need those features there? Karma, thanks, and all that... how is the MeeGo community going to function?

Re: Renaming "Maemo 6" to MeeGo / Harmattan

Exactly! If only Nokia would've said that n900 will be upgradable to MeeGo, all these discussions would be over in an instant. :)

Re: Fedora based MeeGo = NoGo!

They haven't announced but they're doing it anyway. They're consistent. Unlike Nokia who are consistent in abandoning support when a new device comes out. :)

Re: Fedora based MeeGo = NoGo!

Yep, so why doesn't anyone from Nokia want to confirm that it will be running and supported on the n900?

Just like the problems with the 770 or the FIXED IN FREMANTLE issues. And now we're seeing it again happening but this time much more faster.

Anyway, I think that this merge was a result of a...

Re: Fedora based MeeGo = NoGo!

Yes that's exactly the problem. The support of the older devices stops as soon there's a new one. So having the option to upgrade to the new OS, even without the cool new hardware stuff, is...
