..could it be, that you made the backups with KP, and are restoring it without KP or different KP configurations..? I had a similar problem once.

Please forgive me for being such a bother - it is working perfect..!

I was, umm.. massively stupid and left the IP as 192.169 instead of 168 - :epicfail: :p ..password and 'Enter' key works...

Well, Presence VNC can't be used in server mode. So, i am only left with x11vnc. :( ..and you may just be spot on about firewalls, i'll check and revert.

I am not sufficiently educated on ports,...

Yes, i am able to use SCP (which, i am assuming uses SSH) - it works perfect. Plus, i am able to use Presence VNC to control my PC from the N900 perfect.

I've dealt with such reboot-loops, crashes, total f'ing disasters..! The method i stated works very well for me if i ever screw something up. As michaaa62 states, FSCK is very important...

..i'll suggest that you take a full (opt/root) backup using backupmenu. Then reflash with a 5gb or 8gb Vanilla ROM. Then you can partition your eMMC (or NOT!). And you should restore the (opt/root)...

You're right.. i see the same issue. I had a corrupt eMMC as well, and i had to use gParted in Linux Live CD to get it all fixed (a stale NFS handle). I will however wait for ammmyt to push this...

I suggest using power.conf to overclock to about 900MHz at vdd set to 54. If you use SetCPU, it may become difficult to get the slider to get down to 900 (from 1150).
