Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Yeah I thought so too! I feel like the XA2 was chosen specifically for that appearance... kind of a nod to times of old.

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

The 630 is big.LITTLE, two discrete sets of cores, they're just all A53's. Remember, the 650 spec sheet doesn't indicate it's big.LITTLE, either, it just denotes two obviously separate groups - 2x...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

XA2's Snapdragon 630 uses big.LITTLE as well. 4 x 2.2GHz + 4 x 1.8GHz with the 630 vs 6x 1.2GHz + 2x 1.8GHz with the 650. Watching AIDA on various benches on my Xperia X, I rarely ever get the more...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Significantly smaller lithography - less power consumption, better efficiency. Two more cores with all the same extensions, higher maximum clock. Significantly larger battery - I already get 4 days...

Thumbs up Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

I hadn't even thought of that. Are there any custom kernels for it yet, like the incredible work by @mautz for the Nexus 5? Man, what I'd do for undervolting on my X...

How does one go about...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Especially with the recent update, mostly everything works. I haven't had any stupid our outstanding issues that make me unable to use it as my daily driver (and really, my only phone outside a...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

This may not help you, but I've found that faking my browser user agent to, say, desktop Firefox gets me the non-mobile versions where I need them.

Re: 2.2.0 EA / Mouhijoki

Hey, thanks for the reply. Do you make those changes in a config file on the filesystem? If at all possible, can you take screenshots when/if you have time? I'll keep playing with it in the meantime....

Re: 2.2.0 EA / Mouhijoki

Lol, out of order! Yeah, I've removed it and all that. I can get it working manually without ovpn file, but it doesn't create routes. I'm going to try again manually, then find the config file it...

Re: 2.2.0 EA / Mouhijoki

They say the built-in openvpn solution is now "out of beta". Does that mean it's back in alpha, because it's worse than it was before. No matter what I do I can't get it to work properly and create...

Re: [Announce] Rockpool - Pebble daemon for Sailfish

It will, the main developers have assured me it will work with the libpebble stuff from ubuntu, which is what rockpool is based on. Working with them to ensure we have something usable.

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

I only notice that behavior with mce/tap-to-wake enabled. Flashed stock without mce-tools and I cannot make it glitch.

Re: [Announce] Rockpool - Pebble daemon for Sailfish

webview is fairly unreliable and broken on rockpool currently, thanks to newer qtwebkit etc. I change settings as needed by modifying the app.js etc on the phone's filesystem. Some stuff doesn't work...

Re: Voicemail notifications

Honestly I never could get rid of this (I'm on t-mobile US) on my old (retired) Nexus 5 or my current Sailfish X. So I installed phonehook and blocked the number it comes from.

Magic... it's gone!...

Re: 2.1.4 EA / Lapuanjoki

I'm not experiencing unusual battery drain on 2.1.4.14 Xperia X. I did the first day or two, but after the indexing settles down it's normal, as good as 2.1.3.7.

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Regarding bluetooth on 2.1.4.14, Sailfish X, and Pebble... My first gen Pebble Steel still works beautifully. Sometimes bluetooth disconnects when both devices go into low power state, but it's only...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Camera works fine, reliable focus and white balance/ISO in 2.1.4.14. No issue whatsoever.

Re: 2.1.4 EA / Lapuanjoki

Re: 2.1.4 EA / Lapuanjoki

Regarding BT audio, under the same conditions (WiFi + 4G) I have absolutely no problem with my Xperia X and my Mass Fidelity Relay. 2.1.3.7 and 2.1.4.12, no issue whatsoever.

I haven't tried it...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Personally, I'm glad Jolla switched to EXT4/LVM. BTRFS is great for snapshotting and subvolumes, but EXT4 is still faster in most use cases... and the gap is only widening as kernels are updated.

Re: 2.1.4 EA / Lapuanjoki

2.1.4.12 looks to be much improved. I can't see any discernible lag or slowdown when using the native mail client, at least with gmail. I don't intend on adding it back after I reflash, so if you...

Re: 2.1.4 EA / Lapuanjoki

Re: 2.1.4 EA / Lapuanjoki

I'm just going to leave my X on 2.1.4.12 until it hits officially, or another EA is announced. I'll let you know if I run into anything outside what we've all found.

Re: 2.1.4 EA / Lapuanjoki

Yeah, it's finnicky. Package management issues and some regressions, but overall - from what I previewed - this is a fantastic release. Looks like Jolla addressed quite a few concerns, plus CVE...
