Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)

Nope, doesn't say that Rovio servers were hacked by NSA, only that NSA intercepts communications.

Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)

Wait what? Do you have a source for this? As far as I know Rovio just sent data unencrypted and NSA tapped that like they tap everything ;) Rovio's website was also hacked some time ago, but that...

Re: Flashlight - Shady Network Usage

If you wonder why people are so upset, just google Flashlight Malware. A flashlight software was found to spy users on Android not long ago. I think it wouldn't have been as bad if your software had...

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for Jolla

So just to be clear, does drm mean digital rights management or direct rendering manager in this case? I think I'm fine with the latter.

Re: Bluetooth watch for Jolla

You'll need an application running on the device that supports the watch. Search the forums for threads about bluetooth watch support on earlier devices to get an idea how it used to work. You...

Re: google calendar sync

I tried looking for a viable calendar option, and found a Android app called Calengoo from Amazon app store. I installed it and after five minutes of tinkering it seems to work pretty well.. It...

Re: Jolla tracking numbers

The battery life should get better after a few reloading cycles. It's just some battery chemistry warming up :)

Re: JollaMobile : Jolla continues Nokia's excellent work on #MeeGo based smartphones

You remember the old Internet Tablet Talk? That's how :) And this is great news!

Re: HP WebOS devices

WebOS is sure to have at least a few years ahead of it, because it was just released big. Even if it is scrapped later, the situations have then changed and the board looks different from today. It's...

Re: HP WebOS devices

Me! I hadn't looked that much into it because I was waiting for the Meego to materialize. Now that I have it seems that webOS is not only nice looking, quite open and developer friendly, so I'm...

Re: HP WebOS devices

I love them! I had Palm devices many years before getting my N800. It's nice to see Palm back in the game with vengeance :) HP seems to have similar plans for webOS as Nokia & Intel have for Meego....

Re: Grooveshark (Spotify clone)

If it's not too much trouble, do try it out with N800 or N810 as well... it's an old device, but the big screen, wifi and cheap price would make it a great standalone grooveshark client for a stereo...

Re: So, I just got a Palm Pre Plus and let me tell you

Cool to hear. I'm thinking seriously about buying a Pre as a phone and some future Meego device as a portable computer to replace my N800. I don't know if the Pre is a bit overkill for it though, but...

What can you do only with Linux?

Re: Nokiausa advocates unlock phones

Does anyone else have the problem, that the first paragraph ends with "Some featured products include: " and nothing after... like there was supposed to be a list of phones.

Re: what was your crapiest phone ever?

I had this too, and boy was it crap! The specs seemed OK, but the actual phone was terrible. I think that Siemens actually dropped out of the phone business soon after that.

Re: Using HDMI to charge the device

Thanks for the reply retsaw. Good point on the voltage source. I'm not 100% sure, but it might be that the current does in fact run only from the device (source) to screen (sink).

Re: Using HDMI to charge the device

Haha. If I wait until the device is out, how can I propose a feature that requires hardware modifications? Think about it ;)

Re: Using HDMI to charge the device

N8 has a HDMI out, so it is quite probable that the next Maemo and Meego devices have that as well. See here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJ6OthGSki0)

Re: Using HDMI to charge the device

This brainstorm is listed under devices. It is a hardware proposal, which is why it isn't applicable to any current devices. You won't be able to do it on your current devices. Don't even try.

Re: Using HDMI to charge the device

I meant connecting the device to the external screen using the HDMI cable and charging the device using the same connection.

Using HDMI to charge the device

Problem:
When you're using the device with external monitor, you are probably doing things like watching a movie or browsing the net through wifi or 3G network, which drain the battery.

It would...
