N800 - Setting the Hardware Clock??

Anybody know how to set the hardware clock on the n800? Seems the date/time adj from control panel or the clock app. sets the software clock, and from an xterm window the normal Debian hwclock...

[KDE] KDE Clock conflict

So I adjusted the KDE clock & timezone settings for correct display. However, looks like this causes a conflict with the built-in Hildon clock app, which now displays UTC instead of my local time,...

Re: KDE problems

No, I don't mean the red xterm window. The KDE clock was reading 5 hours back from my actual time. Presumably a time zone issue. But to go into those control panel settings, a kdesu window pops open...

Unhappy [KDE] KDE problems

So here are my two critical issues that are the only things standing in the way of KDE on my n800:

1. The kdesu window that pops up when you try to change config stuff. To try to get by that, I...

Question Re: Heres how to right click in KDE

OK, here's a headscratcher. I set up Penguinbait's awk script on a hotkey per PCQ's suggestion. Actually, I mapped it to the home key (F5) on my n800, after removing the KDE mapping for F5 to move to...

Re: Looking for a good case for the N800

I got the Proporta case. It's not the cheapest, but has a solid sheet of aluminum to protect the screen and allows a side pocket carry...

Re: DateBook: Praises, Questions & Requests

Agree completely. For backup purposes, and just general usability, you really need to be able to move data into and out of the SD card.

Re: DateBook: Praises, Questions & Requests

I've been using GVM on a daily basis for several weeks now, and my experience is:
1. Palm apps running under GVM that try to make sounds are not just unsuccessful, they crash the GVM. However, I've...

Re: Anybody else up to create a bounty for an office suite?

I would be happy to use Abiword & Gnumeric if they'd work. But last time I checked, Gnumeric on os2008 couldn't correctly read Excel files and Abiword wasn't even ported for os2008.

There is a...

Re: splashID and Ultralingua

You must install the Garnet Virtual Machine first, see:
http://www.access-company.com/products/gvm/

Then install splash ID into the virtual machine. And read the FAQ on their website to see how...

Re: Some apps that do run

Not specifically with Rally. The sound issue seems to be what causes this problem. Before I turned off the sounds, ANY app. that generated sound could have it happen. I've reported this as a bug to...

Re: Virtual memory - How much is enough?

Seems there IS no final word - Your mileage may vary! For myself, I'm using it.

And it's kept on the internal card.

Question EmelFM2 selecting files?

Has anyone figured out how to select multiple files in emelFM2 on os2008? Seems like the normal way you do that in the crippled built-in file manager (tap & hold for a short time, then slide down the...

Re: Why not ? - Nokia has an 10" Linux Mobile Laptop

Don't forget the price. The eee is a small notebook that costs the same as an iPhone! That alone will sell a bunch of them. Maybe not to so much to the tech-savvy crowd that hangs out here, but...

Re: Why not ? - Nokia has an 10" Linux Mobile Laptop

I think the boat may have already sailed on this idea, since Asus has the eee already on the market. And it's apparently selling like hotcakes. Unless a company already has a similar product...

I need Gnumeric myself. The os2008 version has some serious bugs so far...But I know it's being worked on so...

Re: Palm OS: There's no there there

As with most things, the answer depends what you want to do! Certainly the folks who already have a bunch of Palm software will appreciate the Garnet VM. But it can fill some gaps in what's available...

Re: File Manager

On a Linux PC you would do it with 'Setuid' on the executable, but I don't know if that works on the tablet.

Re: Gnumeric update?

Umm, not so much...

As reported earlier in the thread, it can't read .xls files properly, and seemingly the search function inside a workbook either hangs the program or takes so long that it...

Re: Customize the UI, esp the left bar: Getting rid of Nokia Contacts and GPE Calende

This is definitely NOT a bug! As PinCushionQueen already pointed out earlier in the thread, if you close GPE Calendar completely, no alarms from it will sound. You need to leave it running...

Re: Still not sure about Palm OS version

I strongly disagree with this. Even with just the GVM and no extra apps, the Palm contact manager in GVM beats ANY available native tablet contact manager by a huge margin. The Datebook app works...

Re: problem installing garnet-vm

It's certainly possible to get your hotsync user name into the Garnet vm if you have Palm desktop software, since the GVM will do a network hotsync. So you can definitely install paid-for type apps...

Re: problem installing garnet-vm

You're welcome... But it's not the wrong version. The confusion comes about because until very recently n800=os2007 and n810=os2008. The GVM versions listed should really say "os2007" or "os2008"....
