Re: [ announce ] hackattack!

So, it's not related to hacking at all, but cracking. Please stop confusing people. The name of the thread makes it sound like a coding competition (as in hacking = coding), not like a tool for...

Re: What kind of Laptop should I buy?

Why are there two seperate categories "Notebooks" and "Laptop"? (Toshiba introduced the Notebook term for small laptops, but nowadays there is no difference anymore)

Re: Why is the AppManager still so slow (also in 1.2)

The problem lies in the way hildon-application-manager (ham) interacts with APT. Instead of utilizing the apt-pkg library, the ham launches a subprocess (apt-worker) to communicate with APT. This...

Re: Movies on your N900

this thread should be REMOVED; as the site it refers to contains illegal video copies.

Re: Debian Squeeze amd64 and Maemo-sdk (1.0.22)

You could also use a 32-bit chroot.

I can't help with this SDK stuff, because I only use the Maemo 5 SDK; and do not use Maemo SDK+.

Re: What is this on the Media Player on N900?

Play music shared from other devices in the network via UPnP/DLNA.

Nothing shared?

Start the Windows Media Player and search for an option about sharing music (somewhere in the menu); then...

Re: Debian Mobile: MeeGo on Debian (for N900?)

How about talking to the pkg-maemo (http://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-maemo) admins then?

The pkg-meego project will probably host most of the meego.com packaging and stuff like oFono...

Re: Debian Mobile: MeeGo on Debian (for N900?)

You can also call it the way you want to; there is no name yet.

But for your project, you should not use the 'Debian' as part of your project name (e.g. not Debian/MeeGo). A distribution derived...

Re: Debian Mobile: MeeGo on Debian (for N900?)

Because that's the way things should be done; inside the distribution, instead of creating a new one. But if there are the packages, one can of course use them and create a specialized distribution.

Re: Debian Mobile: MeeGo on Debian (for N900?)

Start with a pure Debian system and add all the packages needed. It's similar to Mer in concept, but based on Debian and MeeGo; instead of Ubuntu and Maemo.

Then your project is very different...

Re: Debian Mobile: MeeGo on Debian (for N900?)

Packaging stuff from Maemo 5 is not part of my agenda, and is already done to a certain extent (e.g. hildon) by the pkg-maemo team on Alioth (pkg-maemo-devel@lists.alioth.debian.org).

My goal is...

Re: Debian Mobile: MeeGo on Debian (for N900?)

I have requested a pkg-meego project on Alioth. But before anything can be done, we have to wait until meego.com finally publishes source code, etc (probably March).

Re: Debian Mobile: MeeGo on Debian (for N900?)

MeeGo is a registered trademark of the Linux Foundation and trademarks should be avoided whenever possible. But we'll see what happens.

Re: Debian Mobile: MeeGo on Debian (for N900?)

Re: Debian Mobile: MeeGo on Debian (for N900?)

It's basically just about packaging MeeGo parts for Debian; and maybe providing some images or stuff like this.

Re: Fedora based MeeGo = NoGo!

My plans are direct integration into Debian, but I already wrote this in the reply. Emdebian Grip will just require to much effort, and MeeGo is not arm-only (but Emdebian Grip is).

Re: Renaming "Maemo 6" to MeeGo / Harmattan

So the Nokia instance of MeeGo will be Debian-based, using dpkg and co; while Intel's instance is RPM-based?

Re: Maemo + Moblin = MeeGo

This is non-sense, you can easily add an XSBC-License field to debian/control with a license name. Or you could use dep.debian.net/deps/dep5/ for debian/copyright files and index them.

Re: Maemo 6 UI framework development is opened

Intel already developed a MID UI for Moblin. So will this one then replace Intel's MID UI in MeeGo?
