Re: N900 media player "Shuffle All" problem - my workaround

I thought I'd post some feedback of my first few hours with this setup. I also populated the genre in each mp3tag while I was doing the track title adjustments, to contain the broad categories I use...

Lightbulb N900 media player "Shuffle All" problem - my workaround

The problem I mean is the one where you press the "Shuffle All Songs" button and it adds the whole media library to the playlist. Unfortunately, they are sorted by track title rather than artist or...

Re: Shows two of each system programs while trying to add a shortcut

I had something like this, until I removed Catorise. I don't need Catorise with the new PR1.2 re-arrangeable menu anyway.

Re: Any way to avoid changing IP?

Linux routers are good. I use DD-WRT on my Linksys with OpenVPN, thus ensuring my N900's IP is always a fixed address on my home network and I never have to worry about opening ports. :)

Re: OpenVPN routing problem on N900

As far as I know, there are no special requirements for using openvpn over GPRS/Edge/3G. The hacks in this thread apply to routing all traffic over the vpn while using these types of connection.

Re: OpenVPN routing problem on N900

Check the documentantion and/or forums for your router.

I upgraded my Linksys to DD-WRT and found a really helpful how-to guide on OpenVPN in the DD-WRT wiki.

With the information in this...

Re: USB mode selector not working after OTA update to PR1.2

This is now fixed after a re-flash of rootfs & emmc - something I was planning on doing after PR1.2 come out anyway. :)

Thanks

Re: N900 / Maemo 5 application tab problems after updating 1.2

Russell,

All the apps going on one page is a feature of PR1.2. You can also rearrange the order they appear in if you tap and hold.

Reading up on the new features would have saved a lot of...

Question USB mode selector not working after OTA update to PR1.2

Bit of a funny one this and I've been keeping an eye on the PR1.2 threads to see if anyone has reported the same thing but can't see any other reports.

Since doing the OTA update on my UK N900...

Re: Smooth video playback gone in 1.2?

That is interesting. I always use mplayer as the standard player is choppy with most files I try.

How long does it take to do this fix on a 90 minute movie, for example?

Re: PR1.2: how much rootfs space for OTA update?

It does appear that certain apps are causing problems.

Brainparty was one of the apps I removed before it started working for me. :)

Re: PR1.2: how much rootfs space for OTA update?

It varies, so there are possibly other factors in play.

Mine refused to work with 54MB free and eventually worked with 58MB free.

There is a wiki page on freeing rootfs space - one useful tip...

Several people have reported problems with this. Try updating to Conversations Inbox version 1.1.1 from extras-devel.

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.2 released: OTA in UK - May 25, NSU/flasher - May 25, OTA in rest of world - May 26

Mine was failing at around 55-56MB free (UK version 203)

Now downloading after I got it up to 58MB free with some serious application uninstallation. :)

The standard Digital Nature theme is a winner!

I'm currently using the Grafitti theme for a change and it's pretty sweet. I'm less keen on some of the app icons but I guess I could get rid of them...

Re: Dave999's Original, Legendary PR1.2 thread now devoted to Random Chatter and featuring drunk Laughingstok as Chuck Norris

My own inexpert opinion is that the N900 is a decent Linux device, especially with EasyDebian installed. It would have been nice if they'd got USB host working though.

I can certainly see the...

Re: Widget to Upgrade

I read on Vodafone's own forum (back in March I think) that their own warranty would be voided. That doesn't mean that Nokia's warranty would be and of course it could be outdated information.
