I believe I did all those things you mention. If my memory isn't failing me my specific cyan swiss N9-00 failes to install development mode since the 1.2 upgrade. it very much...

VINALLA boot into flash mode not working

I'm not doing this for kicks. The N900 died on me and could not be rebooted (and my life is in there).
Anyhow here are the steps:

1) Removed battery
2) ran "flasher-3.5.exe -F...

sharing: transfer error

it can always happen that mid transfer a connection disappears. the transfer app only comments: Transfer error. Stop sharing.
How can re-start sharing? or better yet resume sharing?

disabling wlan greatly improves battery life on my N900
